Is the G16a block the same as the G16b block????? don't give a hsit about pisstins just need to know about putting the fuel injectioon head on an "a" block.

AFAIK, with regards to the important stuff like oil galleries and water jackets lining up, all the G series blocks are compatible.

There are the obvious differences such as the transmission mount difference between 613 and G16 (which is why we need to us an adapter kit with the Sierra 5 speed), and the driver's side engine mount. I have seen a couple of G13 blocks with different mounting points for power steer, but I think this might be something like a Sierra vs. Swift thing.

One thing that is different between early and late models of g16 is that some earlier ones had a closed deck. Most G series blocks I have seen, when you look at the top of the block around the bores this is completely open, like this (pic of Honda engine btw)...


...whereas on some earlier G16s it looked like this


I have a few heads and blocks at home if you want to check anything specific.

G'day mate, here's some photo's of the 1.6 in my coily. On the back of the block is cast "G16A". As you can see it has a fuel injected head.
