Hiya gurus,

I'm getting this really strange thing with the front passenger window switch not working after really hot weather.

If the car has been sitting in +30 deg heat all day both window switches for the front passenger window doesn't work. The drivers side work fine though. I've had this happen once last year and it came good after a few days just before I was about to pull the door liner out and investigate.

I figured it can't be the switch itself as both switches (on the passenger door and also the secondary switch on the drivers door) don't work. Could it be the window winder motor? Which part would get too hot but then come good after a few days after it cools down? Maybe a connector expanding and loosing contact?

Has anyone heard about this before?

It kinda sounds like to me that the source, the power into the switch is beign isolated in the heat. Like the soilder is letting go. Have a look at the switch itself and see if any of the connections look dodgie, like what you suggested.

The only real way to work it out would be get some test lamps out and see how what readings you should get when it works and then try the same tests when it doesn't to work out the fault.

What's the Baily channel? Is this the felt-lined channel the glass slides on?

Well it seems to have come good again by itself, after a few days just like last time.

No idea what's going on.
