Yeah I've come to that conclusion. It's just a pain that it's a 1.5 din stereo! And I'm a little worried about wiring up the steering wheel controls. Does any one have any tips for that? Or know where I could buy a 1.5din stereo? Would look good to fill the hole!

What's your budget? Most decent (and some cheap) stereos have the capabilities to plug in and use steering wheel controls. Is there a double din hole there?

I was thinking around 200 for the stereo :) nah there is a 1.5 din hole which means I either have to buy and adapter to make it 1 din or cut it out for a 2 din. Pretty scared of screwing it up if I cut it!

Din plus a 1/2 size uhf.....

You can buy facias and pockets off eBay..

Most decent head units come with wiring, or have optional looms these days.

Got another question...has anybody wired up steering wheel controls? I'm looking at a wiring harness from Autobarn that's around 100. I just bought a Kenwood KMM-U51BT.

found this in my searching:
http://www.suzuki-forums.com/1g-1999-20 ... ntrol.html

I'm looking for a little bit more of a step by step procedure if one exists, or if one you guys could explain to me.

cheers for your help!

I'm stuck at the same point. Tried, orange stereo to 18, blue/ yellow stereo to 19 and mute to 20. No luck.

You may need to get an adapter to go between the steering wheel controls and the head unit - does the head unit you have tell you how to program it to work with a Suzuki?

No. But the harness for SWC is about$130. So did I have it wore correctly according you your diagram?

It's not as simple as wiring it correctly, the steering wheel controls are typically a resistive network, different resistive values tell which of the buttons has been pushed, the head unit has to be able to interpret that correctly, newer head units can be programmed without an adapter, older ones can't.

If your head unit can be programmed, the instructions will be in the manual, if the manual does not specifically address the programming you'll need an adapter compatible with both the vehicle and the head unit, and you'll need to wire it as directed by the adapter manufacturer.
