As a grown up kid, I still love to play in mud and water given the opportunity. The other day the car started coughing and pluttering as water had gotten inside the dizzy. I'm curious to see what people have done in terms of waterproofing or protecting their zooks electrics. I wouldn't mind sealing off trouble areas to minimise any after affects.

Make sure the rubber seal under the dizzy cap isn't pinched or stretched. They have a breather anyway so that probably won't make much difference, unless you can think of a way of putting some tube on the end of it and running that out somewhere. As for connectors, you could spray them with lanolin to keep the moisture out of them, but I don't think that would make much difference to you car not stalling/running rough.

i tape my leads up with electrical tape to stop this from happening. i used to get water coming in through the middle lead as it was higher and would run down it and onto the dizzy. even if it was abrand new lead due to the angle.

a rubber glove over the dizzy works a treat, one lead out each finger, couple of zip ties, and presto, your good for nice deep mud and water crossings.

I had the same issue on the long weekend, had water in the dizzy and headlights, engine, gearbox, transfer case, front diff and half the interior

Seriously, though, on a 4cyl, what weaves suggested is a good idea. It's an old Mini trick due to the dizzy pointing forward and sitting just behind the grill.
