okay so i brought this car yesterday.. and we had a better look and spotted this..... CRACK...

so we are going to rip the motor out and have a better look in a week time after our AZ trip this weekend and hopfully Dad said he might be able to TIG it up.. or TIG a new plate over it..

other wise a new motor or does anyone know of other decent motor conversions?

1.6 efi fits straight in same swop i did in mine the wiring is the hardest haha

seriously though, just fix it if you want to get out of it cheap, or go EFI if you want to spend a bit more and deal with wiring. you dont really need more power than the 1.6 EFI once its geared correctly.

Don't bother with the suzi 1.6l 16v , go all out and put a 4age 20v if you want some real up and go, mine eats the arse out of my mates 1.6 gti 4x4in and in a straight line

Not the easiest conversion In a Vitara due to the attached transfer case.

Yeah it's not the easiest conversion but extreamely effective at the end result, I've seen a vitara doneages ago he used same origional box just had custom adaptor plate and flywheel made

Have 2 G16s with this problem. The one in my Sierra had 2 cracks even!

Try fixing the crack with Chemiweld. If it works, you'll need to do another chemiweld treatment every time you flush the coolant but it's a cheap fix.

Worked for me and much cheaper then stripping the engine down to weld it up...

mine has had a crack in the block and a small weep since i put it in over a year and a half ago.Not that i knew when i fitted it lol

smal crack just behind water pump basically,behind the pipe.I used sealup and have been sorta succesful with it.i still check it about once a fortnight/month and maybe top up 10-15mm in my overflow bottle.

I do plan on one day trying to get mine patched,my old boss reckons he will just do it as is,no real stripping

^^ i reckon you could weld it in place (if you could get to it) but you'd need to do it little by little giving time to cool in between, then do an oil change.
