im about to install a set of 6.5 reduction gears to my sierra any tips or tricks and how hard is it. iv got all tools including press????

Print out the instructions, and take care to grease the right bits, when you need to.

It is a little bit fiddly of a job, but not hard when you follow the destructions and even easier when there's a spare pair of hands handy, A press is handy, but the right size pipe and hammer can also be used
It turned out that the jack handle I have was the perfect size.

Don't the gears come with instructions? And a workshop manual couldn't hurt.

Those instructions can be had from the 6.5 transfer page on lowrange..

Also, make sure you grease the cage bearings when you install them, the first one doesn't mention it in the instructions, they forget until the second one...

Also, The seals, make sure you press the seals in all the way, I just got under mine thisavo and had to use a pin punch to tap the seal in further, I should have realised when I had it out but the instructions have it just flush with the case, the same as the old ones when they came out, the new ones are narrower and will need to be tapped in deeper or they leak...

Oh and you will shit it in with a press, also be careful with the cage bearing in the end of the output shaft, either have the right bearing puller for it or borrow it, was super hard without.

EDIT: Don't worry about banging it in deeper, I think I got that wrong because I went to replace the seal thisavo (still leaking) and it had been pushed back to the edge (flush with case)
