ok well now that my car will be duel locked soon .. and my trans/gearbox / difs are full of water i am going to change all the oils ... now my question is does anyone know a good oil what do u use.. iv been useing some brand called Nulon .. i think its a pritty cheap brand any sugestion to what is best thanks

with a locker you want to use a lim slip oil, personally i used penrite lim slip, i think its and 80/90, but seeing i have an open atm, havn't used it for about 3 years

The brand of oil won't matter if you don't put breathers on your diffs, g-box and t-case...

They'll just fill up with water again

Dont use lim slip... I change my oils so often that i use the cheapest 80/90 i can find... Whice nowdays is that Repco 5ltr stuff for gearbox/transfer and castrol lim slip for diffs..

I use the same Penrite Hypoid 80w-90 in diffs/gearbox/transfer. Never had an issue.

Exactly

Using an expensive oil and thinking it will last longer is a false economy. Especially if it becomes contaminated with water/mud/grit/sand/whatever.

Fit breathers and change your lube oils regularly and the internal parts and seals will all last significantly longer.

there was a thread a while back with info on using an oil with the right GL number for the box, you need one that is GL4 for the box and GL5 for the rest, so you dont toast teh syncros

Just make sure you use a 75w80 or castrol vmx 80 in your gear box. The syncros will work much better if you do. The rest 80w90 as cheep as you can get

Castrol EPX80W90 is GL5 rated but designed for transaxle gearboxes, so can be used for synchros too

i can vouch for this stuff just put it in my jimny and the shifting it sooooo much easier cant believe the difference it made.

Ok sorry for the hijack.

When I bought my car I got given 2L of "castrol rear axle LSX90" oil.

Is this sustable for a 1996 vitara with open diffs?
Is 2l enough?

The LS means Limited Slip, so your oil is designed for a limited slip diff. Having said that, it won't adversely effect the diff, and being a 90W is about right
