I just swapped my diffs under my 1993 SWB WT and my 1987 LWB WT and the tail shaft doesn't bolt up is this becuase they have a different pinnion yoke and are they interchangeable???


Any help would be greatly appreciated.

correct. WT and NT have different pinion flanges.

The easy way to fix this is to swap the transfer flanges, or swap the yokes on your tailshafts to suit, or swap 1/2 your tailshafts so the short end is NT and the long end is WT.

Don't pull the pinion flanges off and swap them - you'll screw up the pinion bearing preload and destroy the diffs.

But if i know how to do it properly i can change them?

I have installed a locker into it so i know what i am doing is this possible?

it is possible if you get a new crush tube and set the diff up from scratch. if you do you may as well get a new pinion bearing and seal as well.

Yes, it will fit, but that's a whole lot of work to "fix" something that doesn't need fixing. If you are pulling your diffs apart anyway, go for your life, but why open up a diff when there's no need?

You didn't explain which way round you were swapping, but the larger WT flange is superior - it runs bigger bolts- so if your diffs have the large flange that's what I'd be keeping.

How do you torque these up if i have the new crush tube etc do you have to take the center out or what ?

I went from NT diff centerS(Small flange) in NT housing to the wt diff centers(big flange).. i just got some WT drive shafts and they fit like the NT ones..

Lwb Wt flanges are Nt. Including jackshaft and transfer flanges.
Swb Wt flanges are all Wt.

my LWB has wt diff flanges but only because it has wt diffs
my front tail shaft is all wt and my rear is half wt and half nt because i
wanted to keep the transfer handbrake.

what about maruti's? aren't they lwb with wt stuff under them in the later models????

Whats the easy way to tell if the flange you have is WT or NT?

The bolts are bigger in WT? But does the flange also measure larger??

You've been around zooks long enough to know that even suzuki doesn't follow their own rules

I've seen quite a few oddball zooks with parts from other models OEM fitted.

And 1L LWB are not the same flange as 1.3 LWB.
