Hey guys just after some advise....
I own a 94 SWB Soft Top Vit 16a and have been looking into the 16b conversion, I have managed to find a 94 LWB with a 16b with minor fromt end damage (needs new bar and radiator and a few little bits)....
ok my question is tho should I invest in getting the LWB on the road or convert the SWB and part the rest out?? whats a better 4x4??

It's not whats better but rather is the SWB more suited to your needs or the LWB.
For instance if you have a partner and maybe a kid or 2 then sure go for the LWB . But if just for your self and you like useing it for the hard 4x4ing then build up the SWB and part the rest. I don't think you'll be out of pocket. Lately I 've been really impressed with how the SWB Vits are going of road , but with with lifts and lockers both are good.
Kept in mind though there are always tracks that suite both styles better than the other so what is better depends on the situation.

yer I guess I knew these answers,,
I did buy my SWB to build up and play with but my young bloke is nearly 6 and keen to go camping and 4x4ing (leaveing the girls bhind), I guess there's the prob,,cant fit a child seat to the SWB can you? I really like the top down idea and the SWB has more potential in my mind as a Super Mod 4x4 ahhh the delema..

Well my reply is then that kids grow up faster than we can modify our 4x4's , or it seems that way . The young fella we be out of the child seat soon , so that won't be an issue .
Go the SWB as long as you can keep the girls at home.
And then when you fail at that, most of the mods can be tranfered into the long wheel base.

we have 2 baby seats in the back of our SWB soft top. they fit fine and the kids love having the roof off!! only prob is that we cant fit the third kid in, so he sits in the front and i stay at home!!:(

Does it have an anchor point? If not you can get one engineered to make it safe and legal

the bolt holes are there for the seats in the back, and the lap type seat belts work better than the retractable seat belts with a child seat anyway. ours is a 97 model.

edit...bolt holes = anchor points. i knew there was a more technical type name for them!!

i would personally go the lwb just for the extra space and the more room to just chuck extra gear in like half of rusho's camping gear

ok the verdict is in,, I'll stick to the SWB I bought for a reason... Me! Its my toy.
Ok ill put the feelers out!! I will be looking to part out 2 LWB Vitara's that's right 2. Only one will have EFi 16b engine available as the other is mine the rest will be parted so heaps of parts to yes make sure I am not out of pocket...

Yer dunno I cant remember seeing an anchor point I will have to take a closer look,,, its a soft top also so not sure on the legallities there....

my soft top was all set up with anchor points, cos the person i bought it off had two kids under 5, ive since removed one (i dont have kids) so i could set up a mates car while he was in a bind

my SWB has the anchor points in the rear scuff plate at the very back.

its funny i came across this, im in the exact same boat. Got a SWB with a stuffed G16A motor and sourced 2 G16B LWB vits the guy wont seperate as he wants them out of his yard (only one has a motor though).
Now its a matter of doing up the LWB or converting the SWB How is yours coming along? Any idea how hard it is to convert to efi? what needs to be replaced, ie. fuel tank etc
