hi guys,

i am having a problem with my power steering on my sierra. here are a few details on the setup. i have a '91'sierra with a baleno engine and vitara power steering mounted via a BenT adpt kit. so the problem is it seems to build up resistance as i turn the the wheel to steer then it goes easy then builds again etc this happens a couple of times as go around a corner/turn the steering wheel. i am stumped on the problem. i am thinking of getting new hoses installed just to narrow down the list. i have bleed the system (jacked the front up and turned the wheels from lock to lock a few time). any help will be greatly apprecated.

thanks greg

what did you do with the steering shaft from the wheel to the PS box? Did you replace it with the coily one? What is the condition of the rag joint?

Here's a thread with my power steering issue...
http://auszookers.com/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=21474&highlight=power+steering

i got a new V6 pump and it worked.

I have a spare 1.6 pump if you wanted to try it. (it's not the old one that didn't work)

the steering slop adjuster is too tight? Is it when your steering wheel get to one point only or is it all different places on the steering wheel?

x 2 to rubber rag joint or binding uni's. I've had both after doing my PS.

Did you bleed he power steering system when you installed it? Could have air still in the system. Does the pump groan when you loose power steering ?

He said he has bled it, but I was thinking the same as u oozuk. When you installed the ps lines - you don't have any lines that go above the reservoir or have high spots where air could still be trapped?
