Looks like a stock front lux shackle to me. I imagine from the factory they mounted the shackle this way to get around the necessary dropped mounts (fangs) at the front to counter an underchassis shackle mount. Keep in mind that's just a guess.

its not good or bad other than it would lower the chassis and COG by like 2"... you'd need to make custom shackles i would think.

woo 2 pages of useless
don't remove leaves, it will be lower cause its softer, then when the leaves cant hold up the weight anymore they will get lower and lower and lower
rip em out, take em to a suspension place that can reset leaves (probably has a lot of trucks to work on) and ask em to make em 40mm flatter, doesn't get any simpler than that

at one stage I was going to do this on my new zook, but it has a few issues with shackle travel when you really twist it all up, so I decided against it .
could be cool though

That sounds like a winner. Thanks.

resetting leaves aint cheap though... locally here its about $110 a pack from memory. i looked into it myself a while back. once set no one will guarantee it wont just sag anyway cos of the modified arch.

Its going the other way
$110 a leaf is pretty good, its a fair shit of a job even for us that can fix our own junk

I was quoted $300 to reset four packs from a place in Townsville a few years ago... Probably gone up in price.
Id personally swap a leaf or two out for similar length thinner leaves.. What ever you do will eventually sag if you drive it..
Or reset the packs yourself if you have appropriate tools..

shep, I had some mains and load leafs made for the back of mine. They were based on EFS rears but made thicker and a tiny bit longer. Gives me the height and they seem to work well, even though there quite stiff.

i already have long springs and they used to carry a load well however i have done to
many trips like this and they dont carry a load very well anymore.

stiffer = thicker... you'll need to have them custom made. its do-able though. i was looking at getting a hilux pack made for the rear of mine using thinner steel so it would flex better - but once i got the price on doing so i was a lot less motivated.

Shep, if you want any springs made try this mob, they've been in the game that long & have a wealth of knowledge.
http://www.industrialsprings.com.au/index.htm
http://www.industrialsprings.com.au/leafm1.htm
they make a custom leaf for nissan australia to fix the dragging bum that the tradie utes get from being loaded all the time, manufactured by industrial springs & fitted by nissan all around aus.

Alien, This is tech not so cal mexican bling.
Know anyone with a bench press?
Mark out the leafs at 50mm intervals, and eventually bend them with a few pumps at each interval, time consuming, but it works. Its how i reset my rear mixed corolla springs to all match and give me a bit of lift.
OR, Reset the main and second, then run the stock original suz pack underneath.
Mixing flat springs with lifted doesnt work, it will bend the top springs into quarters. Or this will happen: See pic 1
The main spring must always be fully supported by the second for a 4wd. Or this will happen: See pic 2
Flat Corolla spring + 2" bottoms

Now that's a great idea. I could bag it.
I could go one step gayer and use a oxygen tank as air supply.

extra or longer leaves will make it stiffer, with teh same amount of free arch it will settle less once loaded (IE in teh car wheels on teh ground) so may be higher but probably not a lot
another option is a load leaf that isnt in contact with the main pack till the extra weight drops the back some

Shep, do some fab work, get a set of torana front coils, and set them between the axle and the chassis.
Dunno about nowdays, but in the 80s when I was living there, near all the tojos had this, helped ride and load, mostly ride, but in the case of the light zook, load mainly id say.

Longer as in pull a leaf out that is 3/4 the length of the main and replace it with one the full length, not chuck a pack in so long you need to hook it to a trailer
