For a while now I've always thought i had pretty good brakes, till my recent bearing dramas my brakes dont feel like they are bleeding up properly. are there any tricks like elevating one side of the car or anything like that I should know about.
this is on a SJ50 89 wt sierra

I rarely even pump the pedal to bleed, jsut let it dribble out
front or back? a loose front bearing will make the brakes pump up, likewise poor adjustment on the rear, they need to be tighter than most people think

by a brake vacuum bleeding kit, bit expensive but make bleeding so much easier, no pedal pumping at all. use my kit all the time for my motorbikes and the family car. or if ur cheap a large medical syringe and long clear tubing to syphon off with

x2 pump it too push the shity fluid out then let it dribble for a while.. do the furtherest bleed nipple last.

at work i've found those airbleeders dont get all the air out of the system every time if the system had no fluid in it to begin with. I did start out with a syringe cause i had noone else to help but the neighbour jumped the fence and gave a hand to do the pump method which ive found to be the best. I also only gravity bleed if im just putting fresh fluid in the system that was already fluid. are there any adjustments i've got the handbrake set to 5 clicks but i dont think that should affect it?

Has your sierra had vitara vented rotors put on the front? This might give you difficulties bleeding the brakes, if you didnt know its been done.
Vit calipers need to be semi removed and flipped up so the bleed nipple is at the highest point.
Other than that, bleeding brakes on a sierra is one the easiest things to do.

There should be a bleed nipple on it

On the bias thing there's a nipple on the top bleed that first then the rear I found mine came hood after that plus there a basted of thing if there not bleed you'll have shit brakes if bleed properly your bakes will be good but I've found no matter how much you bleed them the pedel always feels spongy witch I hate

Royce's gravity feed method needs the closest to far method as the fluid will take the path of least resistance firsthand this will ensure the bubbles are removed. Even the forced method can inadvertantly push a air bubble into an already bled line

Is Royce's gravity method anything special/different? There seems to be a lot of conjecture on the Interweb about the gravity method and to start from the furthermost point.

I know it'll be hard, but ya need to make a friend with someone, and they lay under the car and dash around with the spanners, and you sit in the operators seat, listen to the radio, and pump and hold the pedal....when and if ya hear him.
Ideally the guy under will know what he's doing, but that's not paramount, with brakes you usually know when the job hasn't been done right.

i only just flushed my brake fluid out tonight... again, everywhere i've read says furthest first. FSM says the same. i used a $15 brake bleeding kit from supercheap. basically a foot of clear tube with a one way valve on the end to stop air coming back up the tube. works fine... put the hose over the bleed nipple, and you can let it dribble out, or if you want to do it faster (which i did since i was getting rid of the old fluid and pushing new stuff through) go and pump the brake slowly.
