Drop the tank and empty it out and blow the fuel line s out with a air gun change filters Open up and clean and spray all the electrical U might have water in dissy or plugs

Yep this is a common one here. The rigs fair well after a dunk, but act up a few days later. Usually it is water/mud ingress from the fuel tank vents, and nothing short of a fuel tank drop , and line flush/blow out will solve it.
Be ware that if any sand or mud got in the fuel lines your carby/injection may need a jet/passage clean as well.
A lot of times it is water in the electrics too (distributor cap, plug wires, ecm etc).

I didn't think there were any rules in this place other than what you feel like imposing at any given moment. At least that's the impression I get, sorry I didn't think professionalism was your forte.

I like your sense of humor Royce, I expected a banstick beating.
Anyway for what it's worth SJ70 Suzuki I'm assuming you have a stock 1.3L carby Sierra as you didn't give any more details so that rules out things like TPS and airflow meters affecting the idle. My first (and probably the easiest) place to check would be the dizzy cap, give it a good clean with contact cleaner and the plug lead ends wouldn't hurt to. If the motor did ingest some water the air filter could be caked up with muddy water choking the motor so check that. The fuel tank, pump, lines and filters like others mentioned would be my next place to look. Failing that then I'd be changing fuel filters, flushing the fuel tank and lines with the feed to the carby disconnected like others mentioned. Then if you still had dramas I'd probably replace the plugs before finally having the carby looked at, just because plugs are cheaper and easier than a carb rebuild.

Ok, I might get flamed for this, but TOPGEAR of all shows (facepalms himself) drowned a Sierra and it was blatently obvious right away that the tank was filling with water. Air bubbles and everything. If the filler dipped below the water line I'd be fairly certain it's time to drain the tank. Looking at everything else first is kinda wrong priority order. But then we werent there when you drowned, so ask yourself if the filler dropped below the waterline or not.

Sorry then but I found the original post genuinely hard to read, I don't expect perfect grammar, mine sure as he'll isn't. But a 30 second proof read helps everyone out.
And I listed fault finds in order of ease and cost with actual known problems in mind. If you know for sure the filler went under then there will be some amount of water in the fuel system.

I would say about 90% of the guys here take one look at their carbs and try to "Eliminate all those damned un-need vacuum lines" (L-O-Fucking-L) "get rid of that stock junk electric carb thingy", or "ditch that crap for a webber"
Anyways... what happens most of the time is that they disconnect that "useless" vent line leaving it open. They usually don't notice a problem until they get about frame deep in water. Then they have the same issue you are describing.
What I am trying to say, is that if your return or vent line is old or the charcoal canister (did you guys get those?) line is brittle, cracked or generally not seated well, mud and water can infiltrate there too. The vent line, tank return and charcoal canister all connect well below the tank at the frame, so you don't have to get that deep to end up with crp in the tank.
I like the list above though, a logical order of ease and price first, is always the way I like to troubleshoot.

I would get the fuel tank cleaned as most suggested and change the fuel filter while you're at it GRPABT1 wrote: Sorry then but I found the original post genuinely hard to read, I don't expect perfect grammar, mine sure as he'll isn't. But a 30 second proof read helps everyone out.

the exact same thing happened to me, ran fine for a week and then just wouldnt idle unless you are revving it. Change all filters and oils like everyone else said and clean out your fuel tank. I ended up having to get a different carby and that fixed it.. swimming has never been so expensive
