hi again mates. finally tracked down a transfer cars to replace my busted 6.5 geared one. have 31s on it that are close to real size. how craps it gunna be with my 1.3 big block engine in me sierra?

gotta do it though. wont be going up all the hills anymore for a while i guess. be able to do little red at glasshouse still with it? has a new standard clutch in it

This will most likely result in either:
a) running into the trees or banks or upside down due to the speed you have to tackle it at to avoid stalling
b) If not option a you will run outta clutch trying to tackle it sensibly.

I only recall little Red years back when Royce actually wheeled and had his sierra. Even then it was a mission and you could really see to big tired vehicles struggle with control on standard gearing. They were bouncing into things and stalling all other the place!

That would depend on how much clutch you want to burn - you may not have much clutch left by the time you get to the top...

31s are bad on standard gearing even with a 1.6...

Would be an educational video for the fella's who believe in lockers before gearing once over-tyred. Just imagine the ridiculous speed you would have been pulling due to the added traction of lockers.

Not necessarily. You have to hit things with so much speed you don't have time to judge things that can happen.

i had 29's in my first one...with gearing....ended up on 33s but gearing is where its at!

now on 33s and 6.5s and its too low...but anyway...

Depends on what you drive. I don't think 33's and 6.5's is too low at all- I'd say it's spot on for mixed technical driving.

I had 32s and stockys for a while and it sucked donkey balls. i even had to get winched up a hill by a gutlux becuase my car physically couldnt turn the tyres! just embarrasing. mind you it was a friggen steep hill haha

Don't forget that 215's while not huge is about 2 inch's bigger than the stock rubber...

i had a swb wt and 30's I killed clutches trying to slow it down for control all the time.

30s sucked balls with no gearing and still is shit house with 3.9 diffs and a 1 liter case still not low

i dunno what reduction il go with next time. didnt mind it with the 6.5s. only drive glasshouse. like crawling up things with the twin lockers. used 1st doin little red. did all my steep ones in 1st. would probably go again with same gears. but havent sampled any others lol

i shud probably confirm they are 6.5s. they are super low though i know that much

for 31s i only ever recomend 4.9s but thats just me
