Have recently put a G16b in my tintop, but having issues getting it running.
Timing is correct, its getting spark and fuel. Not getting any error codes right now, was throwing a MAP code but that's been fixed(loose plug). The most I can get from it is a few back fires here and there... I don't have any noid lights to check injector pulse, this is about the only thing I can think that may be a problem.
Any one have any idea what I could be missing? I'm about to start hitting things with a hammer.

Have done some more testing....
Cam position sensor is working TPS is in range O2 sensor is in range Coolant temp sensor is in range Intake temp sensor is working Ground and active on the ECU are fine Coil/Ignitor work fine, good spark...
Replaced the lead from the coil to dizzy to the correct one, I now get it to kick on turning the key but it will not continue running.. Does it every time I try to start it, if I keep cranking after the kick it does nothing.
Possibly injectors are doing there first pulse but not continuing to fire, which should indicate the ecu is unhappy.. Possibly missing an input, but everything has been tested and works....

just stick your meter on volts and put a probe onto each wire in teh plug and crank, the meter will flash voltage on and off if there is injector trigger there
how did you set the cam and ignition timing? did you use the correct keyway position on the cam pulley?

Just chucking ideas out there because nothing seems to be fixing this, if the head gasket or intake gasket was incorrectly made would it stop it running? Everything seemed fine when I fitted it but I may have missed something...
take a look at the trigger wheel in the original dizzy , im pretty sure you will find it has a "home signal" for the ecu . IE it has 4 evenly spaced teeth then a tooth next to a tooth ... so the ecu see's it as 1 .. 3 ... 4 ... 2 ... "home".
ive just recently modified a vitara dizzy to run this setup for a baleno .
let us know what you find..

Thank you!!! Had a look and they're different. The vit unit doesn't have the extra tooth.
I have special tooling to remove the pin in the sprocket/ dog drive . When i have it apart i also replace the internal oil seal , so for me its pretty easy...

I pulled the Baleno unit apart easy enough... Wasn't game to try pull the vit unit apart. Is the tooling to pull it apart commercially available or is something you made?
Its stuff i made . if i remember i will take some pics of the jig i made tomorrow.

I suppose you have checked that you have the firing order right? Sometimes the simple things are overlooked.
trust me on this , and also the OP has confirmed the differences in the dizzy . i have used this engine in so many applications including aircraft with aftermarket ecu.. thats how i knew about the extra tooth (which usually can be configured with aftermarket ecu). The factory ecu needs to see that home signal to know exactly what part of the cycle its at . its different with the wasted spark coil pack setup where it uses a cam and crank signal to determine what part of the cycle its at.

The extra tooth should of been apparent to me after playing round with Baleno dizzy, I didn't even think to confirm the Vit unit was the same.
Makes me wonder how other people have done this in the past, there seems to be a few posts about people slapping the vit cam and dizzy on a Baleno and having it work fine.. Possibly later dizzy Balenos used a CAS. Mine had a sensor physically fitted to the motor with a compatible sump, but it was not in use.
