Thought i would post this for people that dont know, Currently Sprint Auto is throwing out 10" Pneumatic jocky wheels for $32 each! got me self one and they look pretty good. Will be replacing the small 8" or even thinking about welding it on the other side so have the 8" as a back up or for extra stability once the camper is parked.

The 8" is impossible in sand. or any soft ground.

I have a 10" pneumatic on mine.
It obviously slows down the sicking in soft stuff,
but it is a pain for normal use,
very hard to get it to change direction.
I put the 6" dsolid back on today,
and will use the 10 "on trips.

word up lads,

ive got a the front cut of a chassis from a lwb vit, and ive had this idea of making a trailer out of it, using the front suspension off the half cut, springs, struts, welding on a draw bar, and locking up the steering.

Would it be a good base to build a trailer up from, or should i just give up on the idea and take the whole lot to sims with my swb.

Tell me why its a crap idea

Ha, as you know ive got a lot of crap around here i need to get rid of, dunno if i should keep this for a longterm project

It ticks a lot of boxes...same width, pcd, good size bearings, independant suspension.

I seen a good trailer using a swift rear end
No more details, not seen it fer ages.
Why not leave the trailer wheels steerable :)

If you want to build something different you'd certainly achieve it, but, I'd imagine that all that metal (chassis, arms and struts etc) would make for an unnecessarily heavy trailer.
Can't beat leaves and solid axle for durability, reliability etc etc.

But if you want to do it, just do it!

I had a trailer on my Moke made from the rear of a Moke, it towed fantastic, and looked cool.
But it was heavier than a similar sized normal trailer.

I think the trailer had never been gal dipped and must have been stored in a way that let water pool on the right hand side. That section has already been replaced in the past. The new section is gal plated so hopefully it will last for a while. I'm going to pour motor oil down both sides to hopefully help prolong its life.

I'll need to replace the mud guard mounting plates in the near future as they're looking a bit cancerous too.

The small square section welded on the end doesn't pool the water, maybe add a couple of drain ones anyways.

Nah, square section has a 20mm gap under it. Drain holes may be a worthwhile addition. I had another look over the rest of the trailer and am pretty sure it actually was originally gal dipped.
Maybe during the gal process the area did not get good coverage, or maybe the mudguard supports were an add-on (they look it) which damaged the gal coating. Who knows, at least I have a trailer for the festive season.

I would still like to find my own at some point.

Finally motivated myself to finish off the overhaul on my borrowed boat trailer.
New LEDs, number plate remounted plus rego label.

Then decided to fab a mast support so I don't have to put it on the roof anymore.

I'm still on the hunt for my own trailer but the nature of their use means pickings are a bit scarce.

It's not the angle. For general towing it won't make contact though. Backing it into my backyard may be a different story though, I'll have to be careful.

Just a thought, what would these be like on a camper?

Would stop the tyres from hitting the arches when fully loaded.

I dont have shocks, nothing has been broken in my camper as yet, including loose packed eggs, my fridge doesnt even move from its spot on rough dirt roads, so are they really needed?

I have pretty big tyres on the camper and offroad leaf springs, apparently a solid axle too.

Can't see why they wouldn't work on a trailer. Looks like a great product!
