Hi all, Chasing an oversize piston and ring set for an LJ 50. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Actually doing a full rebuild so any info on sourcing parts for the little 2 banger would be helpful
Cheers, Boofdog

Boofdog,
I had an LJ50 in the 70's, I replaced the pistons with the pistons from the 3 cyl 2 stroke van, not sure of the engine designation but you should be able to source that online, I had to have the engine bored to accept the 2 stroke van pistons as they were a fair bit larger and from memory it upped the capacity to 650 - 660 cc, no other modifications were done to the engine the increase in performance was quite noticeable. I will look online and see if I can find any other info for you. regards barbender.

Cheers Barbender,
Have found a set of standard pistons and rings, but definitely need a re bore, so will have to go oversize. I thought the old 2 stroke van had the same lj50 motor. Someone told me they used to do three oversizes, .5mm, .75mm, 1mm I did happen to find one 1mm over piston, but really need a full set and rings as well.

I have plenty of used engine parts for the 2 stroke, but nothing aftermarket like oversized pistons etc.

There was a thread started by tanshi, post date Sunday October 24th, 2010 at 7:17 am. similar to what you want, regarding the Suzuki Carry engine, I am looking for an old 4x4 mag that had a lot of info on this when I rebuilt my LJ50, if I can find it I will scan it and email it to you. regards, barbender

Cheers barbender, Any info is helpful!! I am talking to a bloke who may be able to sleeve the damaged bore so that the standard size pistons can be used.
