Trying to decide on good belly height for my lwb. What height (swb or lwb) are your zooks at? Please list mods you have used to acheive your height.
Im thinking around 17in. Wheelbase of 96in

only 33s. but want to be able to run 35 if i need to.
Thinking 3in springs, 1in shackes plus tyres should get me close to 17in

no reason why your 2" spring, 2" bodylifted sierra cant run 33's right now with a bit of a guard chop and hammering...

you dont want to make the wheelbase too long or your rampover angle is going to suffer bigtime.

mines not here to measure, but on 31s with a roughly 200mm extended wheelbase i certainly wouldnt want to be any longer, i already have issues now and then bellying out.

I have another lwb im building, seperate car altogether. Its pretty stock now so just wanting to get all my plans worked out before i start.

My vits at 14.5 " at 98"'wb and it drags it belly all the time

There is draw backs to any way you build, spoa will get you insantly better ramp over approach and departure, but suffer on side angles. low with chopped guards will get you great side angle but suffer ramp over etc etc....

if i was building a lwb on 33s it would be 50mm spring lift, guard chopped.

so what exactly are we taking the measurements from?
the chassis or all the crap hanging below it? big difference

should measure to the chassis rails at a certain point, as some people to transfer lifts or run different boxes etc... so while it might not be 100% accurate cos other shit hangs down, at least its a common spot to measure to.

But that would be chassis hieght not belly hieght, my understanding is belly hieght means lowest point, whatever that may be on your vehicle. Anyway from memory Im at 22 inches with a flat belly, on 38s and 110 inch WB.

14.5" and 88" wheelbase.

Measured to the bottom of the chassis because LJ81s are awesome so no crap hangs down past it.

Mods to achieve the height? Flogged out OME front springs, slightly modified rear end

On my LWB 1.0 chassis, that lowest point is the bottom edge of the gusset where the chassis sweeps up towards the rear spring hangers.



You can see that point in this photo.

I haven't measured off the spring hangers because they are pretty much within the diameter of the tyre - it's pretty hard to get hung up on them in a "belly out" situation.

In any case maloo, what we're all running isn't really that relevant to you. You need to know what works on the terrain you are driving, not on the terrain we are driving.

From one area in Victoria to another my setup is either too long and low or just right. How that's relevant to NSW - I'm not sure.
