Have finished swapping the front hubs/ wheel bearings over yesterday.. bought new hub assemblies! plan was to keep old hubs and put new bearings in them as a spare set, looks like the bearings are built into the hub?

It this correct or am I going blind?
Can you replace the bearings in the hubs?

did manage to jack out the bearing race , and ball bearings, looks as if the hub and bearing is all one piece?

Bearings can be bought seperately so you should be able to remove and swap. I just did mine a few weeks back and it cost bugger all more for the hub with bearings already pressed in.

There are two different styles - one has removable bearings, the other does not - I believe they are interchangeable.

My RHS hub didn't have a circlip on it, but it had the groove there so I went down and got one when I had a new bearing pressed in, cost $4. Pressing the old bearing out and new bearing in cost $10 and the bearing kit cost $55 posted off ebay, but if you want 2 you can get them for $100

So if you have the one without the removable bearing you have to get a whole new assembly?

Also Greg make sure they're torqued up to 215nm I think it is or they'll keep blowing like mine...

Klutched try 155, instead, that's what the fsm suggests as mid range for torque.....
I have one of the larger regular torque wrenches, cost a bit of coin, and it tops out at 200nm, that was the highest rating I could find without spending lots....
I really think most people would struggle to tighten a something to those pressures without a huge extension for leverage..

This is taken from the Suzuki Worldwide Electronic Parts Catalog and is from the Australian market section, an SQ420-2 to be specific.

Just jumped on auto data and checked it up Front Hub torque should be 216nm OR 157LB/FT.

Probably get onto that asap.

I found $45 1/2" torque wrench that goes up to 210NM

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but I am looking at replacing the front wheel bearings on my 2003-2005 GV which comes as a complete hub/bearing assembly. However, I only JUST replaced these in April 2013!! Two years out of a set of bearings seems ridiculous to me. I am running slightly larger tyres (227/75/16), and I can understand that these would be putting more pivot load on the bearings/hubs, but I haven't heard of hubs being a problem before - just wondering if it is and I haven't heard of it, or my car is just screwed.

Last time I replaced them I purchased the bearing/hub assembly from Global Auto and installed them myself with the GV tool AND torque wrench - tried to do everything perfect so am a little bit puzzled particularly as I cannot justify $260+ every two years...

Ive done bearings in like 10k because of a damaged brass bush letting water in to the hub

The car hasn't been offroad once since I've owned it! The mechanic doing the aftermarket warranty service has said the last two visits that the wheel bearings have a bit of play in them...I might lift it tomorrow and check what they mean by 'a little bit', although I would prefer to have NO play at all when it comes to bearings... So I gauge it isn't a common issue then?? Maybe a dud set of bearings??

Mate had a new wheel bearing fail pink slip because of to much play.
Not much u can do they are crap design. U cant adjust them

Does anyone know if the bearings are replaceable in the 03-05 GV front wheel bearing/hub assembly. I called Suzuki and they reckon that they are, but from what I have read on here they aren't...I am tempted to believe here that knows what they are talking about rather than some numpty that can only read a computer parts manual...

And the numpty with the computer, if given the vehicle chassis number, should be able to tell you what that particular vehicle was fitted with, when it left the factory
