You could try for $150 if it has decent compression, however I reckon a case of bourbon may be more likely...

I've done the same thing, its not exactly the same but its close. Manifolds are different, as is the starter (unless mines a oddball), carbies different, the oil pick ups different
basically the block and head, the rest is a mess around.

i paid $50 for the whole nicely running car with a brand new alternator.
anything over that would be a bonus.

I have a Barina engine in mine I scored it for nothin' just had to pull it out of a mates car.
They require a little mucking around to change over parts as the barina is an east west mounting the dizzy is straight out so that needs to be changed to a Suzy one, as does the cam! because the keyway is wrong for the Sierra dizzy, the oil pick up as said is wrong as is the sump, inlet manifold is a throw away just replace with Sierra one and carb to. You will have to swap sierra water pump nose (the tube at the rear of the water pump) to sierra one but if you leave the actual water pump and pulleys this makes it an easy job for fitting an EL 110amp Alternator later otherwise replace W/Pump as well all parts are interchange-able not a hard job at all! You might as well do all the gaskets etc.. while doing all this saves worrying 'bout them later! Cheers Robb.
Oh yeah! fuel pump is useless as the barina's are elec pump so will need to run one of these and if running barina pulleys the sierra fan won't bolt up so will need to make a new spacer or run a thermo!

And what are the differences in the engine benefitwise?

My swift engine is out of a MK1 swift (oldest of the old) and it has a right angled dizzy and mechanical fuel pump.

1994 was the change over year, it could be the 1.4 TBI opel type engine not the suzuki 1.3

This is info my friend and I received from suziworld.
The barina's which have the mount on the side of the bore for nock sensors, have different pistons than the sierras,. The barina engines are prone to dropping the piston skirts when used in a sierra (with sierra cam etc).
As said before, needs a lot of crap changed over.

As I have already said, if it is 1994 Barina it may not even be a suzuki engine but the TBI 1.4 Opel engine which does not even vaguely resemble a Suzuki engine.

my (genuine suzuki) part finder says barina pistons are the same as sierra , as i suspected.

i have pulled apart a g13ba swift engine and g13a sierra engine (and a g13b cultus engine)
- The rods were thinner on the g13ba swift engine (the sierra rods where as thick as gti one but with 17mm pin holes)
- the g13ba had a flat piston where as the g13a where dished (not talking about valve cut outs)
g13ba blocks do have knock sensor mounting holes (plus several extra acc mount holes)
Swift and Sierra engines have heaps of small details that set them apart (not just rwd/fwd things)
The best way i can describe it is they are identical twins, with different haircuts, dress style and different scars. A lot of it can be dismissed as trivial but then you got to wonder why suzuki's engineersdecided to make the changes
