well the 1.6 has lost power with anything more then a tap of the throttle, runs rough. idels fine. is fine in high rpm but not hihg throttle if that make sence?

going to replace the spark plugs and injectors. so where would i get injectors and how much are they going to cost me

we have a guy on the gold coast the runs around in a van and cleas them for $30 each.. they come up better then new.

i wouldnt bother with 2nd hand, as you dont know what your getting. and new will prob cost some $$$$

takes about 30 to 40 minutes to get done ../plus the time to pull them out. other wise buy second hand and get them cleamed.

sorta going off topic here. But is it an advantage to get bigger injectors if you had to replace them or would there need to be other work done to get any benifit from it.

I priced vn V8 injectors yesterday from repco they were $75 each trade can't see the vitara ones being much more

Do you have an electric fuel pump?
Took my zook to suziauto at springwood and they put a guage on it to test the pump. It was shagged... It actually had a negative pumping effect, was sucking fuel out of the carb back to the tank!

It ran like shit when I put my foot down, but when I backed off it improved. I got rid of the inline elec pump and went back to a mecahincal one.
Just another thought.

Injectors only inject fuel, and they do so by opening and shutting (pulsing) them very fast. As the engine pulls in more air the ECU adds more fuel by opening the injector for longer (longer pulse width). Manufacturers will spec their injectors with some headroom so small mods (intake and exhaust mods) should not be a problem with standard injectors.

Adding a LOT more air (eg, turbo or supercharger) means you need a lot more fuel. This is generally the only time you will need larger injectors. In this case you would also need to reprogram or change the ECU so that it's injecting the right amoust of fuel.

Its worth getting your injectors properly tested and cleaned every few years, and like a carby kits its no use jsut throwing stuff at it

you need to find a mob that will take them and test them for leakage, flow and spray pattern, then ultrasonic clean them and replace any bits if need be then retest them to make sure they flow even and spray well, money well spent

The ECU uses the injector flow rate among other variables ie RPM, load etc to calculate the amount of fuel required for it to run as close the 14.7:1 A/F as possible. This amount of fuel is achieved by the injector pulse width in combination with the known injector flow rate. Just changing the injectors for 'bigger ones' without ecu calibration will keep the same pulse widths but over fuel now because the flow rate has been increased.
