does anyone know the centre distances (middle of pipe to middle of pipe) of the sierra 1.3 litre engines? are they the same as the gti twin can swift engine? is it the same flange plate? need extractors for gti engine, ebay 200 bucks delivered, good deal?

Sierra extractors line up with the ports but you need to change the flange with GTI one also you need to put the O2 sensor in shop around for some 2nd hand ones I picked up Sierra ones for $20 and the GTI ones came on my motor I wouldn't pay $200 for something you going to cut up

i actualy made my extractos.. .dodgey but they work, i used a set of mk1 extractors and cut the pipes and rewelded bits.. works but yeah that was only because i couldnt get coily extractors at the time

I just bought some extractors for my 89 Vit with the G16A engine, off of ebay to, mine were $220 delivered, which is over $100 cheaper than others i got quoted !

I just received my extractors today, they may be cheap in price, but they are definitely not cheaply made, they are very well manufactured with thick powder coated steel, i am very happy with them !

And i get them, the extractors, and a sports system fitted tomorrow, he he, cant wait

Not bad for home made extractors idealy, the pipes coming off the manifold, should all be the same length before they join up into one, thats what i think they call, tuned... but hey, still a good job Jimbo

Well i got my extractors and sports system fitted to day

But, i told the guy i wanted everything new and 2inch right through, and he decided to leave the old caty converter on, because it looked clean and still in pretty good nick so i have 2inch extractors going into an old 1 1/2 inch caty, then back to 2inch into the sports muffler i told him i wanted everything new... spewin so i will have to pay another $300 to get a new 2 1/4inch caty fitted now...

The only good news out of it all, is that the G16A engine has heaps more top end torque and speed now, with less pushing of the old go pedal, and it also has a pretty good exhaust sound now

It's a 4by, so Idealy thay shouldn't leak, you wouldn't notice the diffrence between tuned & jimbo built on a std eng

thanks steaknife the extractors a of the shelf type for a sierra with the sierra flange cut of and the gti flange welded on I never made the extractor tube's they came like that and they run into the factory exhaust system its a rock crawler not a drag car dose the job fine

Jimbo, so the sierra extractors dont need any mods except the flange plate and the O2 sensor? most people running 1 1/2" primarys? found a set on ebay, the MPH set for 200 bucks, sound ok?

They are more than ok, they are excellent

I just got the MPH and they are a quality product !

I have found that they put out alot of heat, and my aircon pipe is only 4inches from them, so i may have to get some asbestos cloth to rap around it, as the aircon pipe is getting very hot now, oh well, easy fix lol, i am very happy with the MPH extractors !

yes they will work fine, also if you use the gti flange gasket as a template you can make the gti flange

nah, like jimbo said, they line up perfectly! Heres a pic of the sierra flange with gti extractors so you can see the ports line up perfectly with no bending or anything needed. (didnt need the gti extrators though)

And a pic of how the sierra extractors with gti flange plate looks on the car. You will have to drill a hole and get a nut welded on because the g13b has a o2 sensor that needs to go in. Or your exhaust shop would do these all the time..

Also like jimbo said you can make your own flange by using the gasket.. Depends what machines and tools you have though. Was only $70 for flange and gasket (gasket costed $30 by itself!)

just bought a set from MPH, and will get my flange plate plasma cut at work, all sweet. engine is sitting in, making mounts for it this week at last. post some pics tomorrow night. cheers

what do you mean "making mounts for it" the motor use's the factory engine mounts

using the factory engine mounts but the brackets on the chassis are in a different spot than the 1.3 litre, so the engine doesn't fit where i want it, so i'll make my own, giving me another 25mm clearance for the distributor cap to the firewall

ahh ok was this a 1.0ltr before? are you using the gti dizzy? if so use the mazda dizzy cap gives you mor clearance

dizz cap i sorted , stuck it in the lathe and machinined it to the right size. what does people do with the water outlet. heard that the mitsubishi thermostat housing is the go, bought one, but looks dodgey to make it fit.

yes Jimbo, did have 1 litre in there, it sucks making new mounts, but has to be done. it means i can put the engine where i want anyway. keep you posted in how i go.

Dont worry about using the mitsubishi one. I used one from a suzuki swift cino, its a perfect fit. Theyr'e the most common one at wreckers too.

you got any part numbers for the thermostat housing from a cino. have to get one from motor traders, wreckers done here will charge me an arm, a leg, and my left nut for anything. they wanted $550 bucks for a 5 speed box, and i had to remove it from the car myself! pfff, 100 bucks from ebay!

17561-63B01 should be about $30 genuine , but can find at any wreckers...
