I have a 2000 Grand Vitara, V6 manual.
What actuates the hubs?
I don't see any cables or linkages or air lines.
They sometimes take a little while to disengage is this normal?
Thanks

i think it's done with smoke & mirrors?? steknig could shed some more light on the subject in the morning.... the diff is vaccum/air operated & the hubs just lock in after about 1/8-1/4 of a turn.

no auto freewheeling hubs, the cv's are constantly turning, they are vacummly connected to the side gears inside the front diff

Has any one figured out or put a set of auto lock hubs on a sierra??? It would be a good idea for those that run a front welded or lokka. Could you get a set off a IFS hilux and make them work? Just a question.... As I have no idea how those work either.

Try to drive with the front locked all the time. Not fun.

If you have a Auto hub and you do a CV can you just remove the hub and drive it home

I was talking about I dont know how the hilux auto locks work. I know how it is to drive a locked front. I was asking this because If it was possible to put auto locks on the front of a sirra. running a weldded or lokka would be easier. You wouldnt have to jump in and out to unlock for every other corner.

Ok sorry you have all read in to this way to far again.
The simple question I had was .
HAS ANY ONE PUT A SET OF AUTO LOCK HUBS ON A SIERRA?
The kind that can be operated from a push button inside the cab?
Much like the new Hilux's have?

Doubt it, & if you have to push a button thay are not auto.
Do you know what activates them? Are thay air or electric, I haven't seen them as of yet. Do you know if the front diff always turn's, or is that activated by the auto hub switch to?
