i have 2 of these battery's and want to run a motor that will use a maximum of
55amps but will mostly be using around 25 to 40 amps. if one battery can
handle a load of 37.5 amps can 2 wired together cope with 55amps?
should i just cough up the $600 for a pair of marine battery's that will only
have half the capacity?

If you parallel two identical voltage batteries, you can add the currents that they an supply to get a total current rating for the setup.

Is this for an electric outboard? If you got 'em already just run 'em

yep they are for my bow mount O/B damo. i stumbled across 6 of them
but did my back in lifting two of the heavy bastards

I would be looking a AGM Battery as it will recharge a lot quicker from the Car than the Deep Cycle Batteries. These batteries can handle more abuse as well. 100Amp capacity would do

from my understanding of batteries..

this is what i think will happen.. with that amount of current being used you should get around 3 hours of use from 1 battery (that is constant use) so double that for 2.

the 37.5a is talking about how much current the battery will take when recharging. so if you were pumping the full 37.5 into the batteries it would take 4 hours to recharge one. 10a an hour would take 15 hours.

i would use them as the specs look to be good.

just got one for my dad to suit his fridge in the car. we went with one that wasnt as powerful (AH) but would take unlimited amps on recharge. it takes around an hour to fully recharge the battery when driving the car. so when out driving when we are away camping the 30 minute drive tops it up. we have gone a whole week with no dramas. it lasts for about 3 days before the voltage cut out on the fridge turns it off (thats with no recharging)

its been a while since i had alot to do with batteries but that is what i can kind of remember.

i probably didn't provide enough info.
the battery's will be used only for a 55lb bowmount trolling motor in my boat
they will be kept separate to the 2 battery's that power the navigation stuff
and the man sized outboard. apparently the electric magic bits in the
bowmount can upset the navigation stuff if given the chance.

i thought that the 37.5 max amps thing was referring to the current that the battery could handle being used from it.

Agred on the AGM thing, though I think you will find that being from a UPS these will be AGM batteries.
