Hey, I’m looking at swapping the engine and gear box in out of an 89 sj50 into my 89 sj70.

I’m just wondering what the differences between the two are.

Is there much difference between the g13a (1324cc) and the g13ba (1298cc)?

Is there any difference between the gearboxes and do they run the same clutch?

Cheers Ryan

Practically identical... Both engine and box.

Engine has a few different castings etc but nothing you'd notice without looking really hard.
Both being 89's the clutch should be the same.
If you swap in engine and box together you won't have to split them or worry about the clutch.

Ok thanks guys,
I thought they should both be basically the same as the build dates are only 2 months apart.
The clutch attached to the sj50 box is getting a bit tired,
I might order a new Exedy heavy duty so everything will be good when I get my gears.
