just a few pics of todays work. been a while since anything has happened
The rear 3/4 eliptical setup. fabbed up and taked on i hope its right.
another one of the 3/4
the front suspension mounts welded on and the beefed up front cross member.
w/t diff marked out so the spring perches can be moved to suip the n/t. the rear diff was also dont today.
so it starting to coma along quite nicely now.
few more bits and pieces on the suspension and it should be back on the wheels.
MODERATORS could you please posibly move this thread to the rigs section.

So guys i have a baleno motor to go into this build and have all the power steering gear from the car that it came out of, infact iv still got the car in the front yard. anyway what are your thoughts on being able to use the power steering from the baleno in the sierra?
and here is the progress for this morning.
the front w/t diff spring perches moved 57 mm in to match the n/t
new rear mounts for the front springs as we have gone RUF of sorts.
the front springs in place waiting on bushes to make it all a bit more solid, and there are a set of more solid shackles in manufacture.
also got the front mounts welded up and the rear 3/4 welded on fully and am waiting on bushes to mount up the suspension. then we can mount up some shockies.

Another first layer of gravity thing??
Given the "trailer queen" title I don't think it's going on road.

it will be alrigth those springs will sit virtually flat with a body and an engine in there. its also going to be a good deal wider than when it started. be we,ll see how we go.

You do realise they are used springs dont you ?
Other then the overly large front chassis mounts which I assume is because of the shackle reversal it shouldnt be too bad.

got it in one red and the rear 3/4 sits flat when on the flat and can be pinned in place. so it will only open up when its un pinned and we drop a wheel in a big hole.
also i was thinking of fabing up some square drive shafts and if need be taking them to a drive shaft place to balance them but im not sure they will need to be balanced for what we want.

you might want to limit the rear as she will flop all over the place with that rear end... JMHO

True.
But You would be better off limiting the rear flex and then modding the front end so that it flexes the same as the rear. This way you will have a far more predictable vehicle.

my 3/4 doesnt flop all over the place ???
after doing RUF i found the extra flex in the front made the rear work
even better, hardly lifts a wheel at all now. My front shackles are quite angled now and hit a fair bit on vertical rocks but bigger tyres should fix that.

mate nobody said that 3/4 was unpredictable.
What I said was that having massive flex at one end, and none at the other makes a vehicle unpredictable. You just need to sort out the front end. Then it will be a weapon!!

no worries fat zook. i got ya now. we actually getting really good flex out of the front too the limiting factor on both the front and rear flex is the front tyres coming back into the firewall. i also think that with a panhard on the rear and maybe the front it will sure things up nicely. the major problem at the moment as can be seen from one or two of the pics is how the rear is slewing sideways wen the front is lifted but hopefully that will be fixed by the end of the weekend with the addition of a home grown panhard from the panhardius tallus tree
