Has any one removed the bar the is attached to the suspension arm hangers it is also attached to the suspension arms. If any body has, does it give it more flex in the front? does it increase body roll?

that is the sway bar, yes it helps a bit cause the suspension isnt being held up so to speak

will give more bodyroll on road though

I dont think its anything bad if you arent driving like a twit but I guess its jsut something you have to try

jsut pull the pins out and leave the bar there and go for a drive

I'll give it a go.
Just had a thought, could i modify one, say cut it in half then put a sleeve on weld it to one side then put the other side in, drill a hole through the sleeve and other half of sway bar and put a large R-clip through the hole. So when on bitumen the sway bar in locked then when you get to a track you simply pull the R-clip out and now the wheels travel independently of each other.

I don't have the Sway bar on the GV and you really don't feel the diff but I'm old and don't go hooking around corners.
Vitzook removes his every timr he goes 4wding and just hooks the sway bar up someway.

the bar is on mine just the end links removed, it jsut sits there and doesnt get in the way

royce how does yours go with the 235's with the bar disconnected do they rub at the front under full flex or have you got lift?

yeah they rub on the back of the wheel arches a bit on full lock cause of the wheel offset, needs more hammer action

nah the bushes hold it in place, hanst moved a bit since I pulled the links of 5 months ago

I guess if your bushes are flogged it would flop around and that would be bad

I'm going to check it out tomorrow, hope my bushes aren't flogged. If all else fails i'll just pull the whole thing off.

That was the first thing I took off my zook when I put in my raised springs.. As Bruce said I cant really tell the difference on the road but I too am old..

It gives your vehicle better off road performance in the way that either side of the front suspension can move on its own this also gives you more flex in the front.. On the road you may notice more body roll when cornering, I didnt notice it partly because the springs I put in the front are very stiff due to having to hold up my 9500lb winch and bullbar..

So is it dangerous to do that? Sounds a bit dodgey, I tend to hoon round corners a bit, especially with these fantastic tyres!
Also SP1086, could you put an amount of difference on the off road part, like a lot better or barely noticeable??

mine still gets around corners alright, but I have race car negative camber in the front to compensate

I have pulled the the things that hold the sway bar to the arms and the sway bar just sits there held by the bushes then gave it a small flex test and it is already good, i put the right front wheel on the shed ramp and the left hand front wheel can now drop further.

forgot i tested the flex by driving through a very small drain probably about one foot deap and now it actually works, one wheel drops lower other wheel goes higher and does not tip as much going off road.
tomorrow arvo i'll take pics and post 'em.

I think I'm gonna seal the deal finally with a suspension lift.
Ironman kit which comes with 4 springs and 4 shocks/struts, about 35mm extra lift at the front and 40mm lift at the back. Then 10 and 20mm spacers for front and rear from Bruce.
So we'll see what happens, can't wait!
