I have decided to build me a race car for coopers.
Here's what I think I want so far...
LWB WT chassis and axles - 90's - got one!
Jimny body 05/06 onward. The rear end any condition as I will be converting to a ute.
1.8 Litre with computer
Sierra gear box.
1.3L T-case
WT Wheels
235/75 15 BFG tyres

A M series motor bolts to a G series box without an adaptor or bellhousing mod?

None. You would need to use the jimny M series 5 speed, and the I would be surprised if they held up to the M18 for too long. There is no other gearbox that will bolt up AFAIK.
Does this vehicle need to be registered for coopers?
Pete

Yes, & I'm pretty sure engine mods have to be D.O.T Approved.

Pete I see where you are coming from with 1800cc being mentioned, an unregistered car can compete in many events as long as it has been CAMS approved and log booked. Lots of the cars offroad racing are not registered, i.e buggies, trophy trucks, chopped rock crawlers etc

I have no idea what a CA18 or a J20 is.
Pete - Does not need to be registered for Coopers. No idea about CAMS.
because the M18 is the same block as a M13, I expect at least a Jimny box will bolt up to it. Dunno about the Sierra boxes. Are they the same as jimny?

m series boxs are different to sierra, g13bb box will bolt up to the same bolt pattern.
the j20 is a suzuki motor, came in the gv and vitara. thus a stronger gearbox.

Motors = Gearbox's Guide.
M13/15/18 Series = M Series only
G13 Series = G Series only/Can get conversions for G16 from BenT etc
J18/20/ Series = J Series only/Can get conversions to G Series box's from USA.
Ca18 is a whole other motor/box/animal. It's nissan..

Yes the M13 Jimny box will bolt up to the M18, however I have concerns about longevity. Especially under race conditions.

Well, I have a Maruti chassis and 2 axle housings on the way.
I have a Jimny 02 body. It might do hey.
I am tossing up a few options and ideas atm but keeping an open mind.
I reckon if I worked an m18, I'd have an awesome engine that would perform really well in a Jimny/Sierra hybrid.
