if you never want to have gearbox troubles again get rid of the rubbish sierra unit and put the vit 5 speed in with the motor.

The good and bad of the vitara gearbox.
Good = its stronger and over all has less problems then the sierra one.
Bad = its heavy and mounts differently. The transfercase reduction gears are 3 times more expensive then the 1.3 sierra ones.

If you want to run twin transfers running the vitara boxs is the way to go.

If you want to run one transfer and are planning on having anything bigger then 30s you will want gears and the sierra box is the way to go.

thats why one removes the vit t/case and runs the sierra one. they only weigh a poofteenth more than a sierra.

As for fitting ,well Mr Joe (Joeblow) managed to fit an 4 speed auto in my LJ 80 with a 1 Lt transfer case , so a Vit 5 speed into a Seirra should be a peace of piss..

your right joe it can be done by people like you, me, jas that have the ability and facilities to be able to make it work. I never said it cant be done. Buts its not simple job. it is much easier to run a sierra box. is it or is it not??? the Vit box you need to modify the mount and get a shaft made up after you take the case off and and and. It can be done but its no where nere as simple as running the sierra box and case.
