I have found a swift 16 valve head and complete tbi setup has anyone used this combo?
Are there any problems using the 16v head on a 1.6 will the tbi run the 1.6 or will it run to lean?
Are there any inherant problems with the swift tbi?
Cheers

i bought a old swift when i was at perth for a run around car and then to strip it for the engine it had the same set up on it. it was all standard besides a dirty 2" exhaust on it. i had no problems with it. it was a gem didnt miss a beat. and i had to take 5 blokes to work each day. i didnt find any problems with it.

Yeah that was my main concern could you use a vit 16 valve dizzy instead? Or are the heads completely different? I haven't bought it yet I wanted to be sure I wasn't wasting my money

as far as i know the swifts never had a 1.3 16 valve tbi, only the swift sedans had a 1.6 16 valve tbi.

the tbi is a good system, but the head istelf is rubbish. all the ones i have dealt with have cracked, to the point where i was making adaptors for the tbi manifold to vit 16 valve mpi heads.

the tbi heads and vit 16 valve heads may appear the same, but are two completely different castings.

Thanks Joe that's what I was after. I'll just grab the tbi setup then it's prbably the reason it's at the wreckers, it was a sedan too I'll retro fit it to my 8 valve head I am really only after the efi just thought the 16 valve head would make it go better.

it Will make it go better. if you can get the head cheap enough it is worthwhile sending it off for a crack test. they are pretty easy to fix nowadays and that tbi would suit the 16 valves better as the 8 valve tbi is half its size.
