I dont know, when i fill up, i can go 70kms before the fuel gauge even drops, and i can get 150kms on a quarter tank... maybe your ECU on your EFI needs checking or adjusting... or your injectors are a blocked up... i regularly put fuel system cleaner through mine at every 3rd refill... i use a product called " FlashLube ", on the bottle it says it has these benefits -

Its about $15 to $20 for a 1 litre bottle, 50mls treats 50 litres, and the GV has a 66 litre tank, so i use 75mls... it works out to be cost effective, and it helps the engine run better.... Oh and another thing, i only fill up with Premium Unleaded, standard unleaded just has to many additives, which makes a dirty engine...

Another thing you should know, only run em on 98, anything less is, well, less.

I wish i could afford to buy 98... dont know about over there, but here in WA, not all stations have 98, and the ones that do, only have one pump out of eight, that has 98... 95 is on just about every pump... and 95 is 10c more than standard unleaded... so i buy what i can afford... mid range... which is better than standard... 95 is $1.32 here, whats it like there ?

Its about the same, I've found 98 5-8c dearer than 95.

we use flash lube in our commo with gas.

just also started looking at the XL-7's anyone got any experience of what they're like?

He also likes the x-trails but im not so keen, since theres no low range and theyre front wheel drive

A friend at work had an X-trail throw a leg out of bed before hitting 100thou!! All factory services too.

XL7 is just a longer GV but with a few extra gizmo's.

Xl7's are the same car but longer, you loose a fair wack of your turning circle in the Xl's but you can live with that if you need the extra room.

I had a look at an XL7 before i bought my GV, they are very big, longer, wider, and heavier, there are pics of them in the forums going offroad, but i prefer the GV, its smaller, lighter, has a better power to weight ratio, and in my opinion, more capable offroad...

for XL7 that will be used off road its best to get pre 03 as the later ones can not be lifted more than 50mm.

03 on are allot better inside so its a hard pick.

looking at an 01 model.. seems the air con doesn't work.. they're going to get it regasses and see if that fixes it.. is there any other common air con faults?

Compressor's implode, fuse box is under the dash, closer to the kick panel.

The is a main fuse box under the bonnet, please don't ask for the fuel pump relay, I still haven't found it, but there is one, I'm told it's near the heater box. Somewhere.

Ha Ha ok you got me, i didnt measure it... not sure if it is, but when i got in it, it felt wider inside, like it had more width, and more room... so are they wider ?
When i took it for a test drive, it felt like i was towing something, it was so long, and as stated, if you dont allow more room for turning, its very easy to curb it, lol... anyway, i chose the GV, just felt better to me...

Has the tensioner rattle on start up for a little bit, whats the best flush and additives to quieten it up?

Also wanna finda bullbar for it, theres no difference between grand vitara and xl-7 bullbars is there?

Cool... how long does it rattle for, and does it rattle every startup, or just when cold ?
I was told, that tensioner/timing chain rattle, can be a bloody expensive fix almost the price of an engine... or could just be old oil or wrong oil, but other GV owners here can tell you more, as i am still new to the GV
I have used Nulon Oil flush before, the first time i did it in my old Vit, some of the shit that came out was shocking but after about the third oil change with flush, you can really notice the difference in the old oil when its drained, not even black anymore

The outside are the same but i believe that the mounting brackets are slightly different.

I was going to buy an ECB bar second hand that came off an XL7 - i called ECB to check if it would fit....apparently not

Think it only rattles when its cold, havent started it too many times since getting home.. will give the oilflush thing a go on the weekend.

Thanks for that shabz, thought we might get lucky and just find a grand vitara one but not the case
