Hey guys a mate of mine is in the middle of a GTI conversion in his old mans sierra and can't get injector pulse or spark.

He doesn't know what series motor it is either so can't tell you what that is, is running standard ecu and has had dizzy checked out and it's ok.

Got us baffled any help appreciated

there was a brown/white wire that had to be connected to the - of the coil to give a pulse to the computer so it knew the motor was running I still need to make up a speed sensor though

make sure everything that needs to be earthed is, that is what i found when i couldnt get injector pulse 1 pissy little earth. Get the pinouts for the ecu and test then follow every wire to make sure it is correct.
The ecu i got with mine was fried from the previous owners attempts at wiring it up, of course i spent days trying to figure out the problem before i got another ecu to try and bingo.
On baleno ecu's if you are not sure of the pinouts on the diagram you can remove the ecu cover and they are written on the circutboard, not sure bout gti's.

what dizzy is he useing?

is the afm seperate from the intake.. if it is its mrk2/3 if its not mr1

Dizzy is out of the coily zook it was in. I think the afm is seperate.

i can help you with this but you have to be more specific , does the afm bolt to the throttle body or not ? take some pics and post.
if you can take some pics of the cylinder head between the intake manifold and the thermostat housing , or the timing belt with the top cover off , or the intake manfold and throttle body , i can tell you what years your engine was from ...

does the fuel pump prime when you turn the ignition on ? if it does you have a problem with the crank angle sensor most likely , the ecu wont fire injectors without a cas signal. if it doesnt prime , its most likely a power or earth problem to the ecu.

alternitavely if you post the "33920-xxxxx" part number of the ecu i can identify your setup and can help you locate the problem easier ..

how it the dizzy mounted?

its not exactly a straight bolt on.... if it is a sierra..

this is a mk1 with sierra dizzy

does it look like this??

ok i had the same issue... is the fuel pump switching on?

is the fuel pump reley hooked up though the computer?

Fuel pump triggered by a diferent source.

it's the ecu not firing up no inj pulse with noid light fitted and no spark thats what my mate just told me.

well the spark should run though the standard wiring for the car??

swap the plug for the mass air flow sensor with that of the throttle position sensor and see if it fires. mk1's have the same plug for these two items.

i think the problem is in the wiring to the fuel pump.... the computer has to switch a relay (fuel pump circuit) or u get no injector pulse.

i sent a pm with my number, waiting on the call....
