Was putting some springs in the rear the other day and to get enough drop to get the spring out, I removed a small bracket thing holding the brake line to the control arm (or whatever it's called). Is it ok to keep this thing out to allow a longer extension or is it there for a good reason?

it's the hand brake cable that's attached to both of the rear arms on the vitara's.
i made up small extensions for the bracket on the arms & got a heap of slack by moving the clamps that hold the cable up on the crossmember where the A arm mounts.
