i know i should have searched first, but ive read most posts about flex over the last 6-12 months anyway... just went out for a quick trip with a mate, decided on a few shots. now, i knew i didnt have much flex, but i didnt know it was THIS bad...



now, my main question, is how much further would i expect it to drop if i remove the sway bar? im not keen on buying new springs/shocks...

probably a fair bit. it won't suddenly flex its arse off but it will be a hell of a lot better than that AND it will be a lot smoother on the road.

also where is that? qmag area?

2-3" assuming your shocks are long enough

yes, but your vitara has a lot of work on it with quality brand springs and shocks. mine are cheap trak ryder springs from pedders up front, and OME springs in back, and OME shocks all round...

this is 2" spring lift, tyre size is 215/75R15...

looks like your climbing out of a hole a bit??in which case you cant really judge the flex.not in a sierra ive found anyway.

mine has ok flex lifted with the forklift and allowed to settle but hitting anything with momentum it sux the big one and is a issue id like to resolve.

Take off the sway bar and try man

wish i could say that was the case, but i just crawled into it and stopped... not bogged, just because i was after photos...

yea i was thinking about taking the load leaf and maybe another out of the rear since i rarely, if ever, have anything in the back, then one out of the fronts as well... think im going to try one all round after tonight.

just remember if you do pull the leaf's out your car will drop slightly. i know you only have small tyres on there but it may be an issue.

this might sound dumb but whats the say bar, and if u can take it out whats its purpose

its purpose is to make the handeling of the vehicle better by making another link between the diff and the chassis it helps keep the inside wheel on the road in a hard turn, that sort of stuff. on the photo above you can see it (covered in mud) between the front end of the springs. by taking it off it lets the diff move more freely. it means that it does make the car handle slightly different on road, you may have to slow down on cornering marginally but they have little effect i have found

essentially it minimizes body roll, or swaying. it makes the car stiffer, and more responsive in cornering. from what i understand anyway...

might pull it out over the weekend

i had a sierra WT. and liked to throw it around the corners a bit... i removed the sway bar, and didn't notice any extra body roll at all in the corners..

so just remove it... but dont throw it away. cus i think its illegal to have removed it, and if you ever have to have an inspection done, you can put it back on for the day..

almost all the sierras you buy in perth are missing their sway bar... its useless and crappy and should be recycled to make hyundais.

ditch the swaybar and see how you go ramping it up... measure EVERYTHING (droop and compression) - then unbolt the shocks all round, ramp it up and measure again - if the results vary your shocks are holding you back.

after that if you're still not happy, look into doing a RUF conversion.

sway bar isn't going to do any thing for you. that looks like i still has the std shocks so that is the 1st point of call. unless you have really stiff springs the sway bar can stay on

In that position a sierra will always do that, why do you think all the poser shots people put up are in that position

actually, on topic of RUF... is it possible to do one without welding/drilling the spring perches? every post ive read talks about doing either one of those...

to do it well you should weld.

if you want super stiff, i have 2 swaybars here for you. 3 swaybars up front should do it.

It never looks like as much flex when in that position. For comparison - two shots of my car, both with the same setup. RHS front was just off ground in the offroad photo.

Besides, flex is over-rated. Lockers are where it's at. Flex makes you look good, but lockers get you up and over.
