Just wondering what the recommended oil for a 1990 1.3L sierra is. My sierra had no owners manual and i have searched but somehow can't find the actual recommended oil grade. I've run HPR15 which is 15w60. I was thinking of running HPR10 instead atleast for winter?

personally I think 10w40 is the right grade for a 1.3 or 1.6

The owner's manual will have a chart which shows several grades of oil being used over different temperature ranges. I've never looked at the Sierra manual, but if it's the G13 engine, the recommended oil will be a 10w30 from below 0*C upto around 30*C.

If you're in a climate that will see temperatures above that regularly - like I am - you can use a 10w40, if you're in a climate that sees lower temperatures you can go the other way and use a 5w30.
