Can anyone show me some pictures of how they modified the front bumper on their vitara to accomodate a 2" body lift?

I was going to just use some flat bar and just move the brackets up, but i'd have to move the brackets out and I don't wanna pissfart around like that.

put a custom bullbar on it instead. looks better, adds protection and a place for a winch, spotties, aerials

i just used 2" box section & flat bar to go back to the mounts...

have a search for posts from ninjamoses, i think he's posted some pics during his build up or body lift.

my front bar is custom, but rear bar ive used 2x1 in box, and flat, worked fine, even taken a nudge from a cruiser

Still interested on the front lift.

Seems the mounting is different between the 2L vits and the 1.6s

mines not a 2L its 1.6 carby, but from how my front bar mounts, i reckon if you take the inner bumper out and get a couple of tags welded to it with new holes, could work

i got given some 40x40 square tubing today, and yes i no its not 50mm like the body lift but for now it will do.

here is a pic of mine with the bumper off, can someone please identify where i put the blocks? i have circled the mounts in green.


there are 4 screws that go just below the door, but they are on the body. there are 3 on the bottom but i cant see how i could use the blocks on them, as ur not screwing them down but more up, and u cant put the blocks above them as it just would work.

the RHS (really hard stel) goes between the chassis & the inner bumper frame, then the bumper goes over that.

got any better pics or ones with out crop circles?

oh yeah, i get what ur saying now. i dont have any other pics but i can give u the original.



looking at it now, that makes a lot more sense and doesnt sounds that hard to do. i can prob find 10mm (5mm either side) worth of washers to make it 50mm.

1/2 arsed pm sent back

there should be 3 bolts along the top & the 2 down the bottom might need to straighten out the dog leg bend & screw it down with some self tappers.

do u mean 4 and 3? on mine there are 4 and 3, not 3 and 2 as shown in the picture. with the bottom mounts, once they are bent out do u then put a spacer ontop?

the circles you have drawn are for the bumper to screw onto the bumper frame & to the body, am i right when you put the bumper back on it had to stretch up to get to those 4 screws?

what you need to do is space the bumper frame up 50mm, there should be 3 bolts holding the frame to the chassis up the top & 2 on the bottom. when you pull the bumper off it should be pretty clear what needs to be done where.... also it's very different to the SV420s & i've never looked at the back of SE416 that close.

also, i would just grab a length of 50mm RHS & cut it up rather than putting washers to space it up 10mm as there won't be much surface area with the washers & it will probably end up fatiguing the RHS or even worse the chassis.

yea thats right, from the side you can see that the top of the bumper is on a slight angle to get to the holes,

oh rightio, thanks for that info. i never got a good chance to have a look at that rear bumper support as i was busy doing the front when the other put it back on.

yeah im going to try and see what i can get in the next few days and hopefully have a crack at it this w.e, hopefully its not to pricey.
