Hey had a look around but cant find any definate answers. Does anyone know what to do for an accelerator cable for a GTI into sj70 ? and what thermo housing to use ?

i used an old boot release cable i had laying around..
i used all the stock sierra ends and pushed the longer outer into them. got all the lengths right than feed the inner thru. cut to length than soldered on an end. adjust up and done

do what jono has done for the thermostat and pipe

mid 80's Mazda 323 accelerator cable , just have to file the firewall hole square , other wise all fits perfect.

type of thermo housing will depend on weather you have a mk1 or mk2/3 gti engine and how you want to route the plumbing.

I used the standard sierra cable, you just need to shorten it a bit

So the standard sierra cable works ? Which end do you have to shorten ?

Not too keen on this idea with soldering ends etc

Sorry to bring up an old thread.....but does anyone know which end do you shorten or modify?

Seems that some people use the GTi cable and some Sierra
Which is easier to modify and adapt?

the stock cable is 2 short to start with... dunno what jake is on about.
u can use a vit one.
or as i do with mine a push bike cable! cost about $3 rather than 40ish for a custom cable.

I took my cable to a bloke charged me $60 to make a new longer one up (new but with my old ends on it)

Re used the standard sierra bits. At the accelerator end I looped the excess wire through a BP connector.

BP connector - Used to join 240V electrical wires.
I'll grab some pics later.
