Call QLD transport Modifications division. They have a list of engineers.

If your in qld you arnt allowed to have a modified car without special approval on your p's. Just like you can't have a v8 or turbo without approval.
So your bugged even if you are able to mod plate it.

where did he mention being on his p's?

Ca18 has been done with approval not sure about the sr though. It's alot of work you need to move the transfer back 150mm or there abouts then new drive shafts etc you would end up with a very short rear shaft. Doing it in a lwb would be a much better option.

I'm not sure if QLD is on the NCOP VSB14 legislation - but if they are, you can legally put a ca18det into a Suzuki as long as you upgrade the braking system to match (as in disc rear) that of the donor vehicle. I am currently in the process of engineering my Ca18det LWB. The VSB14 document states: for a passenger car between 800kg and 1100kg you can upgrade the engines capacity 2.75 times the cars weight : eg: 1000 x 2.75 = 2750cc . However it also states there is no limit for 4wd or commercial vehicles .

The legislation isnt really that bad - the only thing it doesnt allow you to do is go over 6inches total lift and 50mm in the tyres.

im doing a j20 and have some one to do the blue plate. so 2l can be done. You need to do brake upgrades though. not 100% sure about the sr though

I think its still GVM x 1.3 in QLD. Thats still 1.74L though

remember a lot of the weight x whatever stuff is for a fully engineered ICV type setup, not stick a big motor in and get a modplate type stuff

so things like suspension upgrades, brake upgrades etc will all come into it

nah, i have been told that i need the brakes from the same model of car the the motor came from. i.e 2 litre brakes, they are slightly bigger than the lwb 1.6 brakes.

i know it doesnt help you cos its not a suz motor but i would think the biggest brakes you can get would be good enough.

I'm not to sure about the offset of the rotor. You may need a custom caliper mount.
