Just went to buy a fuel filter for the zook but repco's books has the normal plastic filter listed but it's actually metal and totally different size etc. Any one else have this problem? I got the closest one he could find but it's a different diameter. Plus it was $52!!

Hope you kept the reciept?? Take it back and just get a cheap plastic inline filter. I removed the one from the rear and placed the plastic one closer to the carby in the engine bay. The idiot at Repco should have suggested that rather than selling you a $52 filter

Yeah I might take it back in the morn. So you think I should just use the normal placky filter and zip tie it to the chassis?

You get the idea I think i just joined mine straight through where the factory type filter went

a 92 corolla has the filler come in from the bottom and the exit on the side like a sierra, so it's an even better fit

I bought all the filters from bursons, they gave me the inline one that rusho has for about $10. Thats what was listed as the fuel filter.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm just going to fit the plastic filter in the orig position for now as i'm going up the coast tomorrow. Then might siet it up in the bay when I get back. Damn coilies and non interchangeable bits!

SJ80s went to an EFI style filter, which going on all the carby issues that zuks can have due to dirty fuel was a good ides, The $10 plastic filter works much like rice strainer compaired to the EFI style the coily uses.
Suzistore sells the correct filter for $44

Speaking of fuel filters, how do you guys think one of the removable/replaceable cartridge type watertrap/fuel filters would go on a carbied sierra?

I wouldn't buy it from there because it doesn't come with the fittings. I used to have something similar in my jetski which I bought from cheapa auto spares and it was good, I have something similar in the boat and when I put that in the boat mechanic told me that it would be causing the trouble I was having with my jetski (not sucking through properly as it's only a 2cyl 750cc) and I thought I'd see what you guys think about the 1300 sucking through a decent filter like that.

I only ask because the trouble I'd been having with my zook was due to water in the fuel. Fuel is pretty crap nowdays and it'd be nice to have a serious filter on there.
