Ok well doing the baleno conversion, all finished just cant get it to start, there is.

spark
injector pulse
fuel pump primes and runs when turning over.

I gone through all the wiring and all seems good.

When i take the plugs out and turn it over i cant smell fuel or anything in the cylinders.

I am using a vl fuel pump, i changed it for a new one for a test no differance.

The guy i got it from got the ecu from an automatic if thats a problem.

Being from an auto is not the problem. Both mine and matts (work horse build) are from autos and run fine.

Your problem lies elsewhere.

Auto shouldnt be a problem.

Hows the cam/crank sensor

brand new cam sensor that when i put a test light on it and crank it it pulses, the crank sensor when i have it on ignition and take it out near any metal it makes the fuel pump prime so im guessing it works.

Also i replaced the timing belt, took that all appart today to check it and the marks are still lineing up, and the crank sensor looks fine on the bottom cog.

With the wiring diagram it shows a pin for sensor earth that runs to some of the sensors is this ment to be earthed aswell or does the ecu do that ?

There is no harm in earthing it, but buy the look's of the diag it earth's through the ecu..

If it has spark, fuel, and injector pulses then it must be timing related.

I have had engines that have sat for a while ... where the injectors have "siezed" shut.. tapped on them a few times and they started to work.

Agreed, but he stripped the cover off today & double checked, a mate of his is a mechanic & fitted the new belt..
But don't they have 2 tdc's on the cam?

I would agree... but he isnt getting any fuel by the sound of it .. no fuel smell when plugs are removed ..

Lol motor is from vw Dave,

Deffently fuel pressure at the rail.
The motor has been sitting about 6 months maybe longer.

Yeah the timing belt was just a replace so lined up both marks pulled belt, new idler and new belt, checked marks, still line up and it's turned over heaps

Sounds like this could be a win, I pulled off the fuel rail this arvo, what do you 'tap' them with an

I just use a screw driver handle and tap the injector..

my guess, crack the big nut/bolt on the end of the fuel rail when the pump is priming and there should be heaps of pressure in the rail and very slowly undo it until fuel sprays out, seriously it should be so much pressure it will cover your whole car if you undo it any further. if thats it check your fuel pump isnt getting hot as you might have it wired the wrong way alot of those style pumps have no + or - marks.
Otherwise check all earths particulary the injector earths, also check the injector is pulsing by using a small simple globe plugged into the injector plug pins.

Fuel pressure on the wrong end of the rail. So even crimping the return your only blocking the the input.
Otherwise spend the extra and get the injectors flowed. Won't hurt anyway
