Has anyone done it from on here?
I have seen build thread a while ago from someone in the states who as completed it in his lhd samurai.
I am just tossing up my options for my lwb sierra.
Its is going to be alittle on the heavy side as it is, winch, lux/bundy diffs, armour, tube work, bigger tank etcetc.
I have a G16b Baleno motor here, but i think the poor little motor may not be up to the task, in power, and fuel economy as it will be under load constantly from the weight..
Body/tunnel work is no prob, Half the floor is going to be cut out anyway..
I need opinions on gearing also. Auto/Manual, and what Gbox to run, will sierra transfer hold or run vit trans with shit chain etc, And if the rear diff has to swap central to lux, so be it..

Personally I think if you are considering the 2.0 V6, you should seriously consider the J20. Its only a couple KWs less, but fits nicer, and only attracts 4cy rego.

Wow! thanks, I will have to have a good read erm..later today. Dont mind the toyo transfer idea either. Plenty of gearing options. And no shit chains.

doesn't the J20A use chain belt? Can this be changed, is there any reason that should be changed to a belt during the conversion? thought I'd ask, cuz I have no clue.

yes the j20 transfer does use a chain in the transfer, however when putting it into a sierra i removed the transfer any way so no issues there.

So over a good read, I basically want a Lux gearbox and geared transfer. Vit v6 box input shaft, and Vit v6 bellhousing. To run a H20-H25-H27
Then reduction gears will be needed anyway.
Who would sell me a vit v6 input shaft and a bell housing, clutch plate etc

you would probably find it would be cheaper and easier to pick up a front cut, with engine and gearbox inclusive.
for around 2Kish

Yeah would probably need anyway it for all wiring etc. Will be hard to find part here part there etc. Rather all matching from the same car.

A guy in the nsw Suzuki club had a 2.7 in his lwb .
It was crazy fast. But it used to twist the chassis when u stomped on it at lights.
It was sold last year.
If u went 4 speed auto u could go undertaker to vit tc with 4.2 gear then 4.88 diffs would be good for 35+ and would have center output so u could use hilux rear instead of crap bundy that like to twist splined off all the time

a while back i had an h20 to put in the sierra, we measured it up and it with some removal of crossmembers it looked like it would fit nicely.
At the time i couldnt find an engineer who would sign off on it. If i had the engineer then that i have now, i would have had an h20 in the sierra for about 5 years lol.

Yeah to me a H20 is not worth the trouble. Rather run a H25 or H27 with same fuel economy. H20 getting old also.

None of this bothers me. My snake in the bonnet is the fact that the H20 is the same amount of work to fit, but you get far less for all your efforts.

yeah my point was that an h20 and an h27 would be pretty much the same work to fit. if an h20 fits then so will the others

But you might only be able to Register and Insure a 2.0 in a 1.3 car, but not a 2.5 or 2.7

I've got approval for a 2L in a 1L car. I reckon I could get a 2.5L passed

Maybe for the next rebuild
tombutt has a dead H20 he may be able to weigh.
I'll have the J20 out of the wreck in a week or two.
