is there a special tool needed to tighten or remove wheel bearings,ours need tightening

They are a cassette bearing, can't be tightened as the pre-load is set, you need to replace said bearing..
Unless it's started to wear the stub axle a lil bit, than you can tighten, a lil bit.

so is there a special tool to undo em? and do em back up ?? more so on the do em back up as I am guessing they need to be torqued or something

you'll need one of these. BenT across the bug duch sells em for about $70.00. they tighten to about 220nm I think.

i got one of those from him off ebay. the wheel bearings are pretty easy to do when you have that socket.

did mine in a couple of hours taking it very easy.

I was going to do my wheel bearings when I replaced my cv and freshened up the front end but it's f@#$ing hard without the tool...

will do it another time when I have the tool =]

haha I know where the extra seal I got goes now =]

Hammer & punch, I never had a "special tool" at the dealership & I had lot's of bearing apart..

You can get em tight enough, but having the tool would make the job a hell of a lot easier..

I bought the tool a while back, still haven't used it though. Good to have in the kit.
