I know there are plenty of threads about the engines but on average for you guys that did the 1.6 swaps (either engine) cost? My 1.3 is approaching 250k and still strong for now but i dont know how much longer it will be like this. I want to know if i were to spend money reco and boring out the 1.3 into a performance engine if the costs would be similar to buying, fitting and complaincing a 1.6. Which would go better as well? With the 1.6 did anything have to be upgraded? (brakes, diffs, driveline components)?

i can't remember if i read it here or outers but aparently a worked 1.3 is about as good as a standard 1.6 so the 1.6 would probably be cheaper than working your 1.3

If I had to do an engine swap it would be to something EFI. Either G13BB or G16

fair enough but i just got the carby done so i might as well use it god knows i would never get $370 for it if i tried to sell it. What sought of cash is involved in working a 1.3L anyone know?

The skies the limit really. Depends how far you want to go. Probably going to start somewhere around $2000 and work up from there.

Depending on engine cost, something like $1200? I could be way off but should come in way under a worked motor.

probably alittle more than $2000 once you factor upgrading the fuel system and stuff

youll never get any carb 1.3 to touch an efi 1.6 and rebuilt engines are never as good

youll pay 500 just for pistons for a 1.3, you bore then the sleeves get thinner and go oval even quicker, you wont be able to use your carb anyway

easilly 1500 for a good complete efi frontcut (or read up about what the guys with baleno engines are doing here) plus youll need to upgrade your fuel system to cope with efi so youll need maybe 2 pumps and a surge tank or graft in a jimny tank or something

then you have your adaptor plate as well

but look at the power and torque figures for a 1.3, a carby 1.6 and an efi 1.6, do you think youll get that much torque from any 1.3 combination?

Mine was about 2K all up

Depends on how much you can do...
I did all ...mounts,adaptor,water,wiring,new clutch,belts,seals

Including buying the coily tank and vit pump

I think im lucky...But for some of you guys its going to be expensive..

yeah i was wondering if anyone has done a jimny swap becasue i have seen one and they said that is was a straight in fit and didnt anwer any more questions which leads me to believe it wasnt so simple. How do you get your hands on these engines???

first thing you need to do is open the bonnet

Ring some wreckers, Explain what you are doing and hopefully they can help out mtr and wiring etc. My motor + the wiring cost me $1090. All had to do is pick it up.

im not sure what its like up there but down here we have wreckers just dealing in japanese cars they might be able to help you if not maybe a truck and 4x4 wreckers
look up auto parts recyclers in you local phone book there should be someone in there that could help you

there is those sought of wreckers in brissy but up in Rockhampton we got like 1 wrecker and then another 2 within an hours drive and all are very small and never seem to have suzuki stuff anyway but ill ring around

there was also a place in brisbane specialising in japanese 4wds

southport is south of brissy and yeah there is a few places i would like to go in brissy when time allows i would need about 4 weeks to go down pick up everything i want and have it fitted but then i wouldnt get back because i would have spent all cash on the car no money for fuel

there is a place that on the net that sells 1.6 short motors and all you do is bolt on the head off your motor and then put it in

yeah suzi sport but is this a good way to go? what needs to be done any adapting and is this the equivilant of a 1.6 carby?

well they sell an adaptor kit too
the head is smaller so i think that means its gonna have a higher compression ratio
i reckon that with a bigger carby would go really nice
