ok so I'm doing the clicky starter fix and its just not working for me.

I bought a 40/30amp relay
I pulled apart some jumper leads for the wire from the battery to the relay and the relay to the solenoid.
I am using 16 guage speaker wire (what I use to run my spotties) for the relay to battery earth.

I have the battery to relay hooked up to power in in the relay
trigger wire is hooked up to the switch terminal
ground is on the ground
and relay to solenoid wire is on acc out 1 (there are 2.... 5 pin relay)

I have tried swapping some of the wires around but I am still getting nothing.

is the relay clicking when ya try to start it?

nope, it was clicking with different wire configuration though

Do you still have a big cable direct from battery to starter?

Relay wiring should be:

Pin 30- battery feed (fused close to battery)
Pin 85- trigger feed
Pin 86- earth
Pin 87- output to solenoid


Does your relay have 87 & 87a or just two 87's?

its 87 and 87a and I don't have a fuse in the battery feed. I can put one in but the car has to run so I can get to the shops.

ok I have set it up like you said... the relay clicks when I turn the key but no start

Get someone to hold the key on while you tap the solenoid with a hammer

started right up!!! cheers mate! should I still get a fuse for the battery line? I can head over to super cheap right now

That battery wire MUST be fused! You have a sticky solenoid on your starter too

ok, should I have a look out for a new solenoid? I know a couple posts on here said you can pull them off a lancer

what size fuse do I need to get, I'm assuming it needs to be something quite large

15A will be fine. It doesn't draw that much through the trigger circuit

Can solenoids be cleaned?

i have never tried a suzuki starter but landcruser starters can.

Mine takes about 20 key flicks for it to do anything

Should be able to strip and clean the solenoid.
