They're good in front too,I have 1 in the front of my LJ50,the rear is currently welded but I have a Lockright ready to fit when I find a decent 1 litre Sierra rear diff centre. Zooks are awesome double locked!

i hate those lockers with a passion, but if you get em get the more expensive ones with lockright sidegears.

Drive one and see. On the road they push you all over the place and understeers like crazy. Good for powerslides in the wet though

what about just in the front so you it doesnt matter when your hubs are out?

They are ok in the front, if you don't mind putting up with really heavy steering when your hubs are locked

and forever busting CV's!!! I went through quite a few when i was running a lockrite. I realise all lockers put massive strain on cv's etc, but at least with air lockers for eg, you can dissengage them when reversing on rocks etc. Very Good for their buck though!!!!!!

jmo- i have air lockers and a few mates had the lockrite ones and they said they were great but then 12 months down the track they changed their mind as it was locking and unlocking (clunk bang) all the time and wearing out the tyres
so if you can afford air lockers or ones you can manually engage and dissengage i reckon you would be a lot better off and will save on tyres and cv joints(when they are off you dont even know they are there)

one thing i have noticed if you are on a slippery side angle the truck will tend to slide sideways more with the locker on so some times it is better with them off
but if it is all you can afford then go for it as they will increase the off road ability of your rig a hell of a lot

funny eh, the only people i know who rave on about them and reckon they are better than anything on the market- have never had another type of locking diff. once you go air locker you don't go back. damo you hit the nail on the head.

I never said they're better than air lockers,and if you're prepared to spend the money and if the sierra is a 1.3 fair enough.I have a manual locker in my Landrover and I like it.Just that you can't get airlockers for 1 litres or LJ's and they're only as good as the airlines,compressor,wiring,o-rings etc. Oh and they couple onto the sidegears which is why they're so cheap, you need to start with good sidegears and if you do a lot of KM's maybe wear issues in rear.

hi all just looking at geting some of the lockrite lockers for my 1.3L sierra and readign here has me an little confused about what is the beter option. it wont be used for onroad stuff much ( just geting to the trakes) and i dont have na lote of money to spend,
also what is the benifit of the ones that have the cupling with them and the ones that dont have the cupling part.

I've got front and rear lockrights and they're what you'd expect for the price. They certainly get the job done (it climbs amazingly well), but they do make the steering very heavy, cause understeer and clunk round a bit. I couldn't justify spending $2500 on air lockers for a $1500 sierra.

If you can find second hand ones, maybe $750 each in a diff center. And in three years you'll be able to sell it for the same price, so it's worth it when you know you'll probably get your money back, OR when you trash your Sierra enough and buy the next Sierra you can swap in your airlockers

ok thx ,i dont know much about the mechenical stuff atm
also thay wont have any problems going in to the stock open diff

they will have no problem going into stock Narrow track 1.3 diffs, wont fir the front of a WT

i just got a lockright but i didnt order the couplers. do they sell them seperate? where can i get them?

they are totally different lockers I beleive

the lockright designed for the side gears as couplers is 1 locker, the one that comes with is another locker

you cant just get the couplers from the complete lockright and bung em into the sidegear one, they are totally different

and the one with the couplers replaces the side gears for the couper?

in that case would it be worth putting it into the front? or leave if i leave it in the rear can i put it in the front later on?

yes, they fit all rear or NT front using the original suzuki side gears

the one with the couplers fits either front or rear, depending on model

if your side gears arent worn (good chance of it) then it can go in the rear

if you fit it to the front chances are you will need bits from a NT front diff to make it work, otherwise leave it in the rear and get a proper front one, then you only need bits from an NT front or WT or NT rear

or just get an airlocker for the front
