Someone told me that by putting a snorkel on i would get better economy but im getting the opposite. I just love hearing the throaty induction noise so any chance of economy is out the window

that's cause the ATS (air temp sen) is now getting colder air running across it, if you move it further up the intake you should be able to get it close to what it was..

,Righto not buying that one, just took it for a test drive. Gave it a bit of stick down a back street, went alright but noticed it was blowing smoke up the top end, thought maybe it was just steem as it was cold and had just started raining but when I stopped to give the misses a drive I noticed it was still smoking at idle, so I got down and gave it a sniff. Yup it's burning oil at idle.

OffTo the next one we go, a 98 model for the same price

Ahhh ok, well good decision... a 98 for the same price as a 02... i would be getting that price reduced...

A 98 model is easier to mod. No abs or airbags to worry about.

Agreed, the earlier models are easier to mod... maybe try and find a 2000 model, pretty sure they were the last not to have airbags... my 01 only has airbags, no ABS... cant imagine what the new GV's are like to mod, if you can find mods for them...

Not worried at all about mods, plus that '02 model was cheaper then all the rest on the market here in SA by a few grand, it shows why.

The 98 we looked at was really nice, drove better then the '02 shifted gears nicer and felt a lot smoother on the road, the interior was just friggin ugly. Still going to keep looking

You can get front nudge bars, bull bars, winch bars, suspension lifts, snorkels, racks, side steps even dual battery kits. Ive got a 2008 model and have done a 45mm lift and fitted 225/75/16 BFG all terians.


My 2000 GV still shits all over it off road.

I have an '01 model - has air bags but no abs.....don't see air bags being a problem though as i dont intend to fit a body lift. If your not interested in a body lift then it shouldn't make any difference.

Air bags can be a problem if fitting a bullbar or fitting/making a winch bar. Not all winch bars are airbag compatable and the ones that are cost a small fortune.

I haven't worked out my actual economy yet, but I drove my V6 99 GV from Brisbane to Shepparton yesterday with the back seats down and fully loaded to the roof and even with all of the mods including snorkel, 5.12's, 265/70R16 AT's and body lift etc etc, I still managed to get 630km out of a full tank.
I'm impressed!

Well finally made a purchase after looking at about 8 different cars, ended up with a 98 model. Picking it up tomorrow, ended up buying a dealer car and I hate buying from dealers but it was the best one we looked at in our price range and atleast it comes with a 3 month warranty

Probably the only one we looked at that didnt have severely yellow headlights. Although they did have a slight tinge, Can these be pulled apart and cleaned up?

I find mine tarnish after a while so I use some plastic polish on the outside of them. No need to pull them apart.

Welcome to the GV owners club. That looks exactly like mine did when i bought it. The earlier GV's are alot easier to mod. no ABS or airbags.

Mine fade as well, there are new ones on ebay, for $80 each... but i just use a metal polish, found it works by accident, when i was polishing my nudge bar, it works well, so i will just keep using that !

Those ones on ebay are for LH Drive models and are not ADR compliant. I asked the question when i needed some for mine to get it RWC.
