OK seeing so many of you suck at electricity so much  ive decided to do something about it.

Whilst doing something about it I made some clicky starter fix relays, all you need to do is screw the relay to the firewall (will reach to behind the battery), unplug the original starter wire, plug it into the loom, plug a new wire onto teh starter and bolt the power wire under the main power stud and you are away

All connections soldered and crimped, split loom tubing and heatshrink, this could well be the nicest thing in your sierra engine bay.

Will also fit Vitaras and pretty well any car in the world if you feel the need to have one.

$30 posted in Australia, all proceeds go to Auszookers

I've read about these clicky starter fixes. But what is the "clicky starter"? Is it a problem that happens to most zooks? Or is it the same on all zooks from factory?

Nice. Do they work on J20's ?

And why use split corro? For that short length You could use the un-split flexi conduit. Just pre-drill your exit for the earth.

I had it, then I checked the connection on the starter and battery and the problem was fixed!

These look like a bloody good idea though!

All my wiring is in split conduit then taped up the whole length.

Oh so it's just one of those things that happen not a design flaw.

I think mine has been needing one of these.

Is this the symptom of a clicky starter that needs a fix?
I turn the key, and click.
Sometimes it will turn over if I hold the key, other times I have to back off and do it again, sometimes a few times.

My auto elecy explained that the solonoid will stick especially if it's very dusty or if mud has gotten in.

Get a fat chunk of cable, one end to the battery positive, the other end to the start solenoid terminal, if it cranks easy you could do with one (I think all vits are relayed though factory)

Royce, wouldn't dirty great big leads, unlike the anorexic standard ones do the same.

I had a slow as starter, rrrer, rrrrer, yuk, put the multimeter on, lots of power drop tween battery and starter, so used 300amp welding leads as to starter, both + and -, now, its like a friggin die grinder.

I love big heavy duty leads, the ones on sierras are extremely cheap and nasty.

different part, no good having 1000amps available to teh starter if the key is flogged and it cant pull the solenoid in properly

My 89 Vit developed the clicky starter... i replaced the starter motor thinkin it was that... but still did it... took it to Suzistore, they knew what it was straight away... there is a section of plugin cables, about 40cm long, that go from the firewall to the steering column, had a dodgy wire in it, they replaced it with a 2nd hand one... problem fixed...

Forgive my ignorance here, but if its the key, can't you just get a new one cut.

I had a key that would fall out of te barrel on bummpy roads, and yet the engine would run fine.

Went to a locksmith, not a key cutter, but a full on locksmith, he got the details of my car, had to show proof of ownership, went on the computer, looked up the barrel id, cut a new key, alls well.
