Dunno where they have gone, but its a pretty normal thing to see once the rocker cover is lifted, a screw loose in a sierra is normal.

er, a 1.3l that is.

Use a very good lock tite product, it is a known problem.

If engine still running, screws are hopefully somewhere safe

I use loctite on them and then after fitting I use a centre punch to peen between the screw and the alloy it goes into..
The combination makes it impossible for them to come out.

If you ever have to remove them, a good wack in the middle of the X with a small ball-pein hammer breaks the seal.

Nah, just put two new ones in.

Go hunting with a telescopic magnet in the top end and if no luck, sump off and go swimming around in there with the magnet

All the more reason to do it !! If the engine picks one up it will do damage, but with that attitude good luck mate.

Could they damage the engine? Thought if they were in the sump that they would stay there?

This may not matter to you but oil will piss out those holes and not lubricate the rockers correctly , causing them to damage the camshaft and bearings , is it still piss funny , Cheers Paul.

What about if you tipped upside down, and could not get the engine off straight away, and it ran, screws went up, lock your engine solid, rotating mass tore threw the seizure, exploding the engine, sending shrapnell for miles, everyone dead, birds, n other things you have over there, maimed, and in terrible pain.

You are found out to be the direct cause of this, coz one of the screws were found, and then a lynch mob came for ya.

drain your oil and use a flexy magnet up the drain plug and have a dig around
