Gday guys,

Im looking to upgrade a 02 Jimny alternator to get some more amperage for future upgrades. I found a guy locally willing to offload an EL falcon alternator (dont have much more details than that) for cheap.
Is that a suitable upgrade for the M13a? or do i need to go the 1HZ that is suggested elsewhere here?

The jimny one should be fine for mild mods. Sierras upgrade the alt because they are crapola from the factory.

I'm wondering this aswell. I have falcon alt siting here ready.
Would be good if some one with a Jimny alt laying around could measure the spacing On the mounts

Use the falcon one. Cheap and easy to find if ever needed to replace.

My 2009 Jimny has a 75 amp alternator as far as I can tell so I was planning to upgrade the battery and leave the alternator alone unless the change over to a Falcon is straight forward so I am watching for answers on this as well.

My thinking is to fit a winch next year and an AGM battery as the main and see how it goes.

As I mentioned in another thread, I have an Optima AGM and standard alternator. I have run an Engel 40L overnight and given the winch a workout several times throught a day of hard going and still keeps on going.

So thyat sounds like a reasonable thing to do.

im really surprised no one but g13b owners have done an upgrade.

keen as hell to do but dont wanna drop 200 bucks on something that "may" fit. and less keen to get a shitty one from a wrecker, wanna do it right 1st time.

Scales, I think that might be because the M13A alternator is a reasonable size. The one Moag has posted looks good though. Moag what year Jimny do you have?

Scales, the El Falcon alt would be cool if you could sus out how to mount it.
Don't know if the G engine alt mount can bolt onto the M13A block through.
The 1HZ seems to be the best solution so far, as far as I've seen.

Mike, I've got a 2001 Non VV M13A Jimny with a 70amp alternator. Think the newer models have 75amp alts.
