I'm going to order some tyres for the Choker and thought I'd ask for some recomendations.

Mainly will be driven on Dirt/Mud both dry and wet, with a little rock.
In 34 or 35.
Going to use my king 15 x 8 rims.

What tyre and how wide?

Jungle trekkers come out in a 34 x 11.5, or extreme trekkers come in a 35 x 11.5, that's if you wanna go skinny. If I had the money to get new tires I would get maxxis creepy crawlers, 35x13.5 or mudzillas/bias claws.

besides jungle trekkers and silverstones there is not much choice for tall and skinny unless you go for a swamper.

The smaller contact patch of a skinny tyre provides more downforce/weight, therefore more chance of traction.

more ground pressure... imagine a tank track... theyre long but skinny, and tanks go everywhere =) taller tyres make a longer footprint when aired down.

theres also the advantage of not fitting in the bigger 4x4's tracks with narrower tyres, so yu can often get more bite that way too.

The end result is that narrow tyres bite harder and are more responsive to steering on slippery surfaces.

The disadvantage is less overall width can result in the car liking to take little naps. If you punch the width out with offset/spacers to make it stable, you fall into everyone else's ruts.

All things being equal, narrow tyres drive better. Throw in huge ruts though, and sometimes the widest tyre you can run is the answer, even if it doesn't work as well when there are no ruts to sit in.

This is why prams have thin tyres also.

ALot of brands 35" are actually 34 or less, so be aware of that or ask before you buy.

My 35" km2's are real size.

My 33" nankangs were way undersize

awesome, good to know guys. i always thought wider was better but now i understand the formula.
